What a labor of pure love and insanity this has been!
Sometime back in 2019 when I really got back into painting again I had a thought - a bunch of the schemes that I had been toying around with all conveniently came from the same year of racing. So, what if I focused my efforts into doing a little set of cars from that year (1997)? I thought - Nothing big, maybe like 50 cars. Then when I started writing down planned cars I quickly realized that there were too many schemes I wanted to do to stop at 50..... so it grew into one paint scheme from each numbered car that ran....... then it grew into two paint schemes from each car.... then, aw heck that driver ran 3 schemes I really liked? better throw that one in too! You understand how these things spiral.
Now here I stand close to 2 years later with a slate of 118 cars with crews and ratings ready to present to you. This is by no means a complete 1997 carset - I tried to do at least one paint scheme from every number that ran during the season with some fun, favorite teams receiving lots more than that! There are some unique cars contained within that I haven't really ever seen done elsewhere - and there are at least 2 intended schemes that I was unable to complete and did not include because of lack of photographic material to correctly paint the car. Also contained within, you will find a couple fictional 'rookie' cars for myself and the gentlemen who helped me beta test and correct errors.
This set is 97.5% my own work but absolutely would not have been possible without assistance and paint help from @Steven Merzlak , @Majesticexpress , @Thunder98 , @Lastlap nor without the support and understanding of all of you NR2k3 fans. But I know I've rambled on enough - so without further ado - go forth! Download! Enjoy!
