It was the perfect storm...the American car makers had recognized that the Trans Am Series had made stars of it's Pony Cars and the War was on! AMC, Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, Pontiac, and Plymouth all went out and hired the top guns and put them in what most people consider the best America ever produced. The SCCA had a winner, so much so the Big Bill France tried to bottle the lightning himself in a Pony Car Series on ovals called the Grand American Series.
Gurney, Donohue, Revson, Jones, Posey, Savage, Follmer, Titus, Hobbs, Adamowicz, Fisher, and even Foyt were involved in this magical year in North American road racing. The finest Trans Am has ever produced.
"twcom" had some tremendous vision when he decided to create this must have Trans Am car set, but there was no Ford Boss 302 Mustang? He mixed shading and illusion to create it...an amazing work of art. I was asked to help out and I answered the call with tons of research to bring every single entry of 1970 to the surface and put them back on the track!
