Hey painters!

As the more experienced people know, layers are our bread and butter when it comes to working with templates and painting cars. They are what let us be organized and keep things in good order...So, here are a couple things to keep in mind.

1. Lets say you have a wonderful logo you have put on a previous template and you want to have it on your current project in the same or different location, but the same size. Here is what you do. Go to your source template and locate the layer of the logo you want. Click on it so it's active and highlighted. Go up to layers. Click on that. Click on duplicate. A box will appear where you can say where the duplicated layer goes. After making sure your current work template is open, find that on the list and click on it and then click ok....Voila, you have your layer duplicated and it's on your work template so you can do what you want with it.

2. Sometimes you will want to duplicate a whole bunch of layers. What you do there is go to the top layer you want. Click on that. Press and hold Shift for batches or Control to individually select. If you click on Shift then you go down to the bottom layer you want to duplicate and click on that....Then you go do the duplicate layers that I discussed in number 1.

3. There may come a time when you are piecing a big thing together and you have a bunch of layers you want to be a single layer. What you do there is go to the top layer you want to make part of the final layer, and click Control + E....Keep doing that until all your layers are merged to make the big layer you want. This sometimes helps to de clutter your template if you don't need the layers individually.

4. When you are working with your template you need to be aware that the template makers organized the layers in a specific sequence and you need to stick to that sequence to help make your template come out the way you want. Like the base color layer has to be on the bottom. Like the B pillar logos and contingencies have to be on top of the window blackout. Like all other logos have to be under the wireframe/shading/highlights layer.

Hope this helps!
