Hello everyone. I am new to the community. I recently joined a NR2003 league and need a create a custom car (2019 MENCS) and CWS 2015 Truck. It seems like there is tons of info out there on doing this, but everything I find just ends up not working out for some reason.

Are there some go to threads/videos on doing this? At this point I may just use a generic cup and cws scheme and just change the number.

I have some some themes in mind, but just cannot wrap my head around it.

Haven't thought much about a cup car yet, but really would like to create a 2015 version of the 2010 or 2012 Kevin Harvick Tide truck using the #4. It appears that the 2010 has been made, but not in a 2015 version.

I know the feeling....I used to feel so stupid when I was a newbie to Photoshop, and layered Psd files....There are people who know what they are doing to answer questions, but a lot of it is trial and error...Making mistakes and learning from them...Practice makes perfect....Gimp is a lot like Photoshop and my advice is learn the program as best as you can, practice and you will get better as a painter....

So your looking to make the top picture...that one is a lot easier than the bottom pic, it's basically straight lines using the pen tool, flood fill the base layer with the orange, then using the pen tool, make a white line so about 20 to 24 pixels wide, Duplicate that layer, change the color to yellow, decrease the pixel width to where you like showing white. Next is to draw the blue line on another layer next to the yellow line. That's how I would attack this. I'm sure there are other ways to do the same thing.
