Can anyone confirm for me - during the 1998 season, what race did Kyle Petty run the special NFL Players Association scheme at? Did it even run at all? John Andretti ran his NFL scheme at Sonoma but Kyle was in the normal Hot Wheels scheme that race. Racing Reference has no mention of the Hot Wheels / NFL scheme but there are diecasts of it.

If I remember correctly in 98 that 44 was just a die-cast promo and didn't run. The player's association sponsored all the Petty cars and truck but I think the 43 was the only one that had them as a primary sponsor that year.

That was kinda what I figured the case was. Just a promo. I assume they both would have run at Sonoma otherwise

That's a rare scheme so I was wondering if you would do it since you did the others. Also, one more I can cross off my list to do so thanks for that. lol Awesome work on all of them.
My biggest conundrum was whether to recreate the look of the diecast, the promo car or attempt to figure out what I could from the broadcast footage - because every single one of those was a different layout. Lmao

I am of course, a glutton for punishment so I went with the raced version.

Believe me I get it since I tend to do it the same way, so I know it's not easy finding images or race footage for those older Petty cars. lol I always do the research first before I even start a car and that can be the most time-consuming part when you have to try and find race footage. lol

Something that helps with the race footage is that some of the races have been uploaded with the raw satellite feed rather than just the broadcast and they will focus in on or show cars further back in the running order than they would normally do otherwise. Or if it's a car that wrecked they stay on the cleanup longer giving you more time to see "hopefully" more details

Ya know - I have seen that with some previous races I've been working on but didn't think to look for it for this one. Sometimes qualifying videos exist as well.

Qualifying videos are sometimes rare. Especially in the 90s. I am still searching for footage of the 95 cup finale qualifying and an extended/full qualifying for the 94 and 95 Daytona 500's and not the short ESPN recap sessions. Trying to capture some of the DNQ's that didn't make the main broadcasts
