No.
Suarez to the 43 is all but a done deal.

Roger Penske is probably gone from DJR Racing at the end of 2020 and might be taking Scotty Mac with him.

OK time for a short NASCAR discussion....Will Michael Jordan's participation in NASCAR really live up to all the hype? Discuss.
- Highbank, shoutbox 03rd Oct 2020

I imagine that the general trajectory for a motor sport team is five years if they intend to win a thing:
- Mercedes-Benz F1 - 10, 11, 12, 13, 14
- Triple Eight Engineering - 04, 05, 06, 07, 08
- Penske in the Indy 500 - 68, 69, 70, 71, 72
- Henry Ford smashing Enzo - 63, 64, 65, 66, 67

As for the actual question if Michael Jordan's participation in NASCAR really live up to all the hype? Betteridge's law of headlines applies: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no."

The deeper question is whether or not Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan will lose interest within five years. If their impatience gets the better of them, then that team may never win a race.

I reckon Hamlin won't- if he wasn't interested in NASCAR, would he still be driving? The question is if Jordan does, which is a definite possibility, can Hamlin keep the team funded.

I think the real question is - Can Bubba win a race?

Alex Bowman is moving into the next stage in his young NASCAR Cup Series career. On Tuesday, the 27-year-old driver was announced as the new driver of the iconic No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE starting in 2021.
- Hendrick Motorsports, 7th Oct 2020.

48 - Bowman.

What does this mean?

#9 - Elliott
#24 - Byron
#48 - Bowman
#57 - Larson??

Why 57? It'd be much more likely for 5, 25, 88 or even 84..

57 is empty and that's the number that he's had on dirt for a while.

i would imagine Hendrick would have the 88 next year, i doubt he would allow larson (if he goes to hendrick) to drive #57, but then again anything can happen

I see it as he’s likely to bring back the 5 if it’s not the 88. I highly, highly doubt it’d be 57 or any other number picked by Larson if they wanted to sign him.

Here’s my reasoning for it. If there’s going to be a change from 88 then it would probably go back to the 5 because that was Hendrick’s first number. A few years ago it seemed like they didn’t want to let it go then but did so so Chase can have the 9. So I would assume if the opportunity is there to bring it back they would.

The big thing though is the 88 still has sponsors. Cincinatti Incorporated, for example, signed a 10 year deal. So a number change would likely have to discussed with and approved by those sponsors. So I’d say that they’ll just stick with the 88.

The other reason I don’t believe that they’ll change the number to Larson’s choice is because of the situation. He’s likely not going to be bringing sponsorship with him. That’s something that’s going to come with time. So I feel like they aren’t going to customize a car around him the same way they did Chase with the 9. Because what if there is sponsorship issues and they have to let him go. Then there would likely be another number change.

So I think they would put in the car with the 88 or another number of significance to Hendrick like the 5.

Important question time
1. Whose charter are they using
2. Who goes to the 43
3. Who goes to the 96

It’s on Jayski but I don’t remember if it mentioned a charter.

I would have to guess that the 43 will probably now be someone like Ty Dillon.
