So as we grow e'er closer to having a "real" Riverside in NR2003, I wanted to revisit the Riverside Club as it stands in the rFactor, GTL, GTR2, and HEAT sim versions. Since they all spawn from the same HEAT version they are despite some graphic changes the same layout and the same fictional Riverside.
Until Lilski did the Assetto Corsa version that corrected the sim communities idea of what Riverside was, we suffered along with this, quitely for many but for us diehard Riverside folks, we did so grumbling along knowing it wasn't really Riverside at all...
Now we are soon to have corrected versions for all but HEAT, which somehow seems apropos to me...
John Norton is pouring hundreds of hours into making it right in NR2003 and another friend of mine Gary Waldock is doing equal work in GTR2, GTL, and GTR2.
Starting with this video, I'll add videos of the other tracks as soon as possible...then the differences will become very clear to everyone.
I realize that for perhaps most users of these bogus Riverside tracks, it doesn't matter one bit. These same people would squawk loudly if their favorite sim's version of Daytona or Talladega had a huge dip in the back straight or a kink in there, or even a misplaced grandstand. BUT because Riverside is long gone, they have no idea what the track actually looked like or more importantly how it ran as a race track.
We've long put up with the crazy part of the course called The Esses, we've long had to endure the "ski jump" that we have been offered as Turn 7a at Riverside on the Club course.
Those days are rapidly coming to an end and in a very short while folks will be able to actually learn the charm and challenge of Riverside International Raceway in at least three of it's glorious layouts. (there were six)
Enjoy this lap in a B Sedan or U2 Class Trans Am car...
