Hey everyone! I’ve been finishing up development of NR2003 AutoStages, which to my knowledge is the first ever fully automated stage racing companion app for NR2003. I’m doing some final testing now and should be ready to release this in the next few days. I plan on initially releasing both 2 and 3 race stage versions of the program. Yes, I know it’s been possible to manually throw cautions to simulate stages (because that’s what I had been doing, too!). But now, this program can read the current lap of the race and automatically wave a yellow flag to simulate modern stage racing. Oh, and you won’t have to pause the race to see the field positions and manually tally stage points, either! It’s really freaking cool to see in action and I’ve been having a blast running stage races and testing this for you all. This will begin as a single player mod with future plans to bring season-long stats tracking, multiplayer functionality and advanced stats that weren’t available in NR2003 before. Just let me know if you have any questions or have any ideas I can add going forward. Cheers!

I'll be adding playoff points and full season stat tracking eventually! Essentially, a whole new Championship mode. This way, we won't have to upload standings to websites anymore...it'll all happen locally within the app. That will probably come with v3 after I get the feel for adding some advanced stats for single races.

Yes! This is primarily built as a single player mod for racing AI. I still have a bunch of testing and tweaking to do for this to work with multiplayer. And with this mod, you actually don't have to press anything to throw yellow flags. They will fly automatically at the end of each stage. I'll be recording some demo videos soon.

Ok, so will it work if i am just watching. My viewers watch the racing live on my streams, none of us take part in the race. We just watch. Will this automatically happen whilst we are watching? I’d love to BETA test if you would like. Let me know. Many thanks for your reply.

Judging by the demo video already posted, it automatically throws the yellow by sending the !yellow$ command in the in-game chat, which requires you to be in the car itself participating in the race to be automatically sent with the dollar sign at the end of the command (which is the only way to send text messages in a single player race in NR2003 as the chat feature does not work when you're in the car).

If you're just watching the race like a spectator (or a commentator), you can just use the in-game chat to manually type it.

You're 100% correct. From what I understand, anything further would require altering the game's base code to make this work. I'm actually really excited to tell everyone how I managed to pull it off! In due time...

Anyway, when spectating I just use Better Cautions to throw yellows or type it into the chat box. However, the stage tracking, point totals and standings will all work normally if you're not in car.

Sometimes I remember to save the replay of a race but forget to save the race results. Would this tool allow us to export race results from a race replay as well? Also do the exported results show the full drivers name (unlike NR's default exe does not).

That's a really good question. I actually haven't tested this with replays, but I'm pretty sure it would not export accurate stage results, etc. I can double check tonight.

Yes, the exported standings will have the driver's full name and number. The standings are very basic and mostly as a proof of concept, but I'll flesh them out more in the future.

Would the exported results go to the thousandth for timing and intervals? IE say a driver finished 3.478 seconds behind the leader, it would say "3.478" rather than the default "3.48" that NR would export.

I'll have intervals to the thousandth!

Next question: Could one use this program to export results for an external points program such as Score4 or RacePointsManager?
For the moment, no. From what I understand, most of those points sites & programs require html or xml. With this first version, standings are only going to export as a .txt. I will, however have multiple export options for the later versions. Definitely going to collab and ask for feedback on the formatting as I don't use those sites and want everything to be compatible.

Eventually, I'm thinking this could turn into a complete scoring and season tracking system, possibly even building versions with optional stages or creating different presets for certain years. Honestly, once this is fully customizable, everyone will be able to build scoring and season formats however they'd like. But that's a long way away. Wish I had more time to work on this!
