Two new teams from the two American continents! One has a very real chance at a world title in Britain this year, while the other is trying to make a strong run in the next few years.

chevron-racing-rodrigues-card.png

Chevron Racing Rodrigues is perhaps the formula team with the most eyes on it, despite having not qualified for this year's world championship. Their bright and colorful livery, courtesy of their strong team brand combined with Chevron Brasil's sponsorship, attracts eyes in itself, but their two drivers carry strong stories in themselves. The team is led by Elena Ramirez, a 25 year old Venezuelan who's prepared to do anything to win, and has showed the potential for stardom. Alongside her is the grittiest driver in all of the IGPA, Antonio Fihlo. Fihlo is a partial paraplegic who uses hand controls in his vehichle, and while that put him on a much longer path to the top series of motorsport, the Brazilian has reached the top level, and enters his second season behind the wheel for CRR.

monster-cadillac-racing-card.png

An American icon of the IGPA is Cadillac Racing, the longest lasting team in the American FRA series, though their signature black look has evolved over the years thanks to various sponsors, including their current Monster Energy title sponsorship. While they were not the champions last season in the FRA, they're still voted as the favorite American team to win the world title. Keep an eye Indiana's Aaron Jablonski, in what some think could be his last chance at a drivers championship on the world stage, alongside the future of the team, Juan Carlos Valladares out of Monterrey.

All the liveries looks great. When the carset will be out
We're still a bit off, only about a third of the way through and I've had to slow down paints recently because of other commitments, but I should have another pair out in the next day or two and I may be able to start posting quicker and more consistently again after that!

Two new teams on opposite ends of the team spectrum! On one side is a team in danger of running out of cash, and expected to be at the bottom of the results, and the other belongs to one of the most storied teams in the world.

globesport-card.png

GlobeSport is the only unsponsored team in the IGPA series, outside of a small check from Peugeot to throw their logo in a few extra spots. The team is continually looking for sponsorship, as a second year in a row without significant sponsorship leaves them concerned about the possibility of a shutdown or buyout. That said, their two drivers do have potential, but many doubt that GlobeSport is the place for them to show it. Matt Madrigal and rookie Gabe Cervantes will pilot their two blue bolts.

lamborghini-da-corsa-card.png

And now, it's time to introduce the most historic EuroFormula Team, and one of the all time leaders in the world championship, Lamborghini Da Corsa. The several-time champions have held onto their iconic black and gold livery for their entire existence, but in modern times have enjoyed putting a new spin on it every year. This year's gold-scaled livery has been nicknamed "Leviathan," symbolizing their enormous strength ahead of a bid for another world championship! The two drivers for the team are Nicolas Van Lent, who took his first EuroFormula title two years ago and is chasing a world drivers title, and Finnish driver Pekka Virrankoski, in what could be his final world title run at the age of 34.

Two midpack teams with a lot to look forward to and a lot in common are next up to the showcase!

coca-cola-HV-race-team-card.png

Coca-Cola HV Race Team takes a lot of pride in being an innovative team out of the Philippines, and looks set to continue to grow thanks to their all new title sponsorship in Coca-Cola Philippines. Japan's Hinori Wada joins the team as he nears his prime, and looks set to be the future of the team, while a home nation rookie in Dominic Mendoza takes over the second spot. Will their bigger sponsor paychecks lead to much bigger results in a year where they have the chance to position themselves for a run in the next few years?

jan-katsner-engineering-card.png

Jan Katsner Engineering is a team that few expected to find success, being the product of investors with little racing background, but their success has surprised many, even if they aren't a World Championship qualifier yet. Regardless, their competitiveness in the series has been a surprise, and they look set to be a mainstay. Much like CCHV, Katsner is trying to hold their team together to make a run at the big boys once they reach their full potential. Driving for them in 2022 are Vanessa Koch, a surprisingly decent driver who's been with the team since their inception, and rookie Scott Marshall, who's looking to do the same after being a somewhat surprising pick for their second seat.

It's unlikely at this time, however it's a possibility down the road and I'll likely screw around with a one off or two for it. My next project following the IGPA is alredy being planned.

I'll have two number fives, and a number 6 large. Two new teams with matching numbers for their head drivers!

repsol-santiago-racesport-card.png

Santiago RaceSport is quite an interesting team to analyze, being a team with some historical success who've recently fallen to near the bottom of the EuroFormula totem pole. While their home country sponsor in Repsol has stayed loyal, head driver Lazzaro Napolitani seems frustrated with the team's downside, as the once hot prospect has disappointed despite a team built around him. It seems likely that he's out if the team can't turn things around, and Austrian sophomore driver Ralf Honchkraut could be the answer if he pulls himself together. That said, the team has a long way to go to reach their winning ways, and who knows if a complete reboot is in order next season.

chrysler-scott-racing-card.png

One of the oldest teams in the FRA grid is a second-tier team to another one of the oldest. Chrysler Scott Racing's history is one of success and driver development, especially after Scott Motorsports was invested into by Chrysler many years ago to be their definitive driver development team. Think of it as the IGPA's closest equivelent to AlphaTauri, with Chysler Scott being the development team for Dodge. The team hosts two drivers with very bright futures, Guatemala's Macario Trevino, looking to become the first ever Central American to win an FRA event, and Josh Cruz Jr, the rookie of the year favorite out of Texas.

Two Tuesday team reveals, one with a whole new name and the other with a very familiar name!

grand-prix-genesis-card.png

Grand Prix Genesis is the pinnacle of Hyundai Motor Group's programs in motorsports, with a sleek black and silver livery that's changed little over the years. After winning the constructor's title three years ago to qualify for a world title run, they still needed a new driver to take over for a retirement. That driver came in Melbourne's Sophia Lee, the prodigy of the Hyundai ladder, who's in her first season in the top team after impressing with Kia Lotte. Leading the team is South Africa's Mark Klingensmith, one of the favorites out of the Eastern series, looking to become the first African champion.

callahan-intl-motorsport-card.png

Guess who's back, back again! Callahan Int'l Motorsports is one of only two teams in the IGPA related to NAPARL teams, and the only one of completely similar ownership. As opposed to his NAPARL operation, Callahan hasn't been a stellar team in the series, but certainly isn't bad, being near the front of the midpack. For some years now, their operation's been primarily sponsored by Pantone, in a unique promotion for a new paint scheme each year based around the color of the year. Their unique livery this year will certainly stand out, being driven by veteran Paul Fussel, and up and comer Michael Weaver, both of which are out of the USA.

Two new teams, both out of the southern hemisphere on opposite sides of the planet!

kfc-brewis-card.png

Australia's other team, Brewis Autosport, has possibly become the best of the rest in RaceCup1, and that momentum has netted them a big new title sponsor in KFC Asia, joining their longstanding partner in Woodside, and Australian energy company. Their two drivers are both entering the prime of their careers at the age of 28, and while they won't be running for a world title this year, everyone involved thinks they have the potential to put RaceCup1 on notice this year. Osaka's Hayato Kondo and Gold Coast's Maxwell Burkett will pilot their striking white and red livery.

benitez-sport-mercado-libre-card.png

From a team on an upswing to a team on a downswing, Benitez Sport has fallen down the SPA totem pole hard. Despite being second to last in the standings last year, their title sponsor in Mercado Libre has remained loyal, and even invested a bit more to try to get the team toward the top once again. The team boasts Eli Neto of Brazil as its primary driver, and have signed on free agent Alonso Matos to drive the second car, who's still got a long career ahead of him at age 23 if he can put something together. Will the bright yellow livery be notable for being near the front again, or will it only be known for being the bright color at the back of the grid?

We're back as we hit the home stretch, and now we get a double feature of EuroFormula teams! One is perhaps the best of the rest, and the other is one of the newest and most creative teams on the grid, even if they're still waiting for results to catch up.

bp-jwa-card.png

JWA Autosport, currently with title sponsorship from British Petroleum, is the most historic non-factory team in the series, and likely the world. Their striking liveries have been a staple of EuroFormula for years, and their success has allotted them many fans, even if they sadly won't see them competing for a world title this year. Michael Wright is their primary driver, also of British origin, and looks set to be a future star in the series, though some think it's a matter of time until another, bigger team poaches him. Alongside him is Saul Marin, another up and comer from Spain.

koenigsegg-northstars-card.png

Koenigsegg Northstars is truly one of the most unique teams in the world, and a quite popular one despite being backmarkers. Their unique approach to branding, acting like a traditional sports team and helping their fans act like such, is sure to draw more sponsors as the team builds itself. For now though, they need a strong foundation heading into their second season. Lithuanian veteran Albert Viecas returns to be their primary driver, and joining him is rookie Diego Giordano out of Turin, Italy.

(UPDATE: Because of a duplicate number mistake, Viecas's number has been changed to #12)

tata-supersport-india-card.png

It's been a while since we met a world title contender, so let's take a look at arguably the most unique story of the title contenders. TATA SuperSport India comes into this season as the favorites to win the RaceCup1 title, and at the same time they're set to make their world championship debut, where they have the potential to win a world title before a series title. TATA's entry to IGPA competition was largely confusing at first, especially since their purchased subsidiary in Jaguar was a big reason why, but they've been here to play, qualifying for the world championship after finishing second in both of the last two seasons. Driving for them is Mahadji Gazdar, a native of India who's in the prime of his career, alongside another prime driver from a country without much racing history, Tom Liao of Taiwan. Can this team bring titles home and grow racing in their homelands?

RBC-marsden-motorsport-card.png

RBC Marsden Motorsport has been arguably the most forgettable team on the North American grid, despite the fact that they have former world title contender Arnold Patterson driving for them in the last few seasons of his career. Given the harder times of both drivers and the team as a whole, they're facing a lot of pressure to turn things around, especially with their fellow Canadian team in LEAF Motorsports looking set to be a title contender soon. Their blue and gold team is led by California's Joey Carter, who has a strong relationship with Patterson, leading the team to build around them despite their challenges. Could they surprise this season?

Two new teams with striking liveries enter the fray, one looking for a world title now, and the other looking to be future favorites if they can continue their growth.

sunoco-hennessy-performance-card.png

Sunoco Hennessy Performance is perhaps the most interesting of the three FRA teams in the world championship, as they're affiliated with any major automaker, being the factory team for Hennessy in their unique bid for growth through IGPA competition. What was seen as a risk has paid off this decade as they became one of the top teams in the series, ready to make another pursuit of the World Title as they try to get their first. Rather interestingly, both of their drivers come from stock cars before open wheel. Martin Martinez Jr. came up through the NAPARL ranks and was at one point the best driver out of Mexico, though his stock car career closed very early on his own terms, as he desired to conquer the open wheel world as well, where he's seen a lot of success for such a late start, making him a title contender. Alongside him is someone who made the switch earlier, Oregon's Andrew Graves, who at the age of 26 is starting to come into his own and is out to prove he's just as good of a driver as Martinez. Could the pair really make some noise in the UK this summer?

Avianca-Cardinal-GP-card.png

While not among the three world title qualifiers, there's no question that Avianca Cardinal GP is the best of the rest in SPA. Their bold livery and title sponsorship from Avianca Airlines has made them one of the most recognizable teams on the grid in the last decade, and they're at the tail end of a rebuild that they believe can set them on a world title run, and of course an SPA title run to boot. Bolivia's Daniel Briones is only 24 and is already a race winner, and looks set to be the next big thing in SPA, if not the world. His 26 year old teammate, Simon DeJesus, has had a slower start but has shown flashes of brilliance in his career. This year is a year to continue building up, but could this team become a South American dynasty through the rest of the 2020s?

From the Americas to the eastern hemisphere, we have a team from a nation with little racing history, and one from a nation with lots.

richard-mille-diamandis-card.png

Richard Mille Diamandis is a rather unique team, founded and led by one of the richest men in Greece in an attempt to build motorsports in the country despite their financial challenges. The team has had its ups and downs, and is currently closer to the bottom, but they seem to be back on an upswing thanks to a big sponsor deal from Richard Mille, which will give the team two home nations, and their own bi-national driver in Kostas Adamos, who represents his birth nation of Greece for his home country team. The bias isn't that big, however, as he's proven himself as a fairly strong midpack driver. In their second car is Germany's Sven Mayer, entering his first season with the team after an abysmal two years to start his career, though RMD sees potential to turn him into a strong driver. The team seems to like their gambles over the years, how many will be winning bets in 2022?

sapparo-sunstar-racing-card.png

Sapporo SunStar Racing is a team that's long been supported by the company named after their city, but what they've succeeded in in financial support has not always been backed up by results. The worst of the Japanese teams, the team really needs something to help them turn it around. The team did sign Indonesia's Hasta Rajasa to the team, who's widely expected to outdrive their equipment a lot this year. Along him in his second season is Aussie Tyler Applin.

The next two teams both have striking liveries, but also have a lot to prove in the coming season after finishing toward the bottom in the last few seasons.

thai-royal-motorsport-card.png

Like a callback to a bygone era, Thai Royal Motorsport is one of the newest teams in the IGPA and the only team with significant funding from a national government. With sponsorship from Airports of Thailand, many see the team as a pay driver team thanks to their head driver, Khan Tonsinont, though he’s proved himself to be a solid midfielder in a rough, high pressure situation in his first two seasons. Alongside him is Chinese rookie Qiang Sun, the oldest of the RC1 rookies, and the one with the most to prove. Is this team set to become the ultimate dark horse in 2022, or are they all talk with no substance?

credicorp-gp-cruz-perez-card.png

Credicorp GP Cruz Perez has a new look this year thanks to their title sponsor’s rebranding, and their bold, fresh livery is something they hope to bring to the front of the grid this year. After a struggleful campaign in 2021, the team has a new lineup in Uruguayan veteran Emmanuel Armenta, looking to bring a strong veteran presence, and younger female driver Luciana DeLeon out of Ecuador. Is there a comeback in store this season after cleaning house?

Olivera-Ontiveros-card.png

It’s hard to believe we have two IGPA teams sponsored by beers with star logos, but here we are. Olivera-Ontiveros is the lower of the two Mexican teams, and despite their big sponsor deals from Heineken and Honeywell, results have been hard to come by. Their lead driver is Mexican Raul Rojas, who many believe could prove much better in a better car, though he’s remaining loyal for now. His sophomore season teammate is Belize’s Kenneth Casanova, who’s seemingly on the hot seat already as his team seeks improvement fast.

paquette-grand-prix-team-card.png

Paquette Grand Prix Team is about to make their World Championship debut this summer, and they’re on a hot streak heading into the season. After claiming their first series constructors championship two years ago to punch their ticket, they’ve regressed somewhat but still hold a lot to be excited about. Leevi Juva is a young star out of Turku, Finland, who’s becoming a title contender already at the age of 26, but the fact that the team isn’t a manufacturer team has slightly held them back despite their constructor title upset in 2020. Alongside him in the 30 car is 30 year old Jules Bienvenue, driving for his home country team.

We're quickly approaching the end of the IGPA Saga! Just four teams remain, one in each series and all with a big story! Stay tuned!

It's time to kick off our final four teams to the showroom!

akiko-motor-sport-bushiroad-card.png

The last Eastern team to be shown is the best of the rest out of RaceCup1, Akiko Motor Sport. The team’s title sponsorship from Japanese entertainment conglomerate Bushiroad has led them to have greatly different liveries in each season to promote their various properties, this year’s being New Japan Pro Wrestling. In their primary seat is the top female driver in the series, veteran Anna Finnan out of Manila, who’s set to be a title contender in the regional series this season despite not making it to the world championship. Their second seat belongs to a younger driver out of Pakistan, Kalima Bashir.

Peugeot-Latin-Autosport-card.png

One of the best for last out of South America, their second factory team is Peugeot Latin Autosport. Being a leader in the unique South American markets, Peugeot has used it mostly as a marketing tool, though they’ve impressed in their performance, especially recently. Unlike the other teams at the top of the S.P.A. table, both of their drivers are in their 20s, leaving a lot of room for future growth while they already have a world title chance this summer. Their drivers are Augustin Beheno out of Argentina, and Juan Navarrete, a native of Peru. Will they put on an impressive showing both in their series, and in Peugeot’s home region of Europe?

Just two teams remain, and they're two teams with arguably the most on the line! Why so? You'll have to find out.
