    I actually think this might be good news. If you weren't around or following NASCAR in '71 (which I was not), check out the history of WHY Winston sponsored NASCAR.

    I'm not grabbing for straws in trying to compare the two (or maybe I am lol), but I feel Winston and Monster share slight similarities when it comes to their position in the culture. The only thing I'm unsure of is how long brands created in the last decade or two actually last; it seems things change quickly any more, even to top companies. Just look at how we went from NEXTEL to Sprint so quickly... Thankfully those two had the same color scheme lol

    I'm up for change! ...Though given the choice, I'd rather go back in time.

    Well stated "RTW", I think they placed the color of the potential logo high on the "wants" list, no red, no yellow...something different. Silly world we live in...

    It was hard not calling it Winston Cup anymore. It was a slight shift going from Nextel to Sprint. I will just weird calling it Monster Energy Cup or whatever they shift it to with that brand. That is an absolutely nasty product so I know I won't be buying anything they make. There will probably be a lot of fans who will feel that way. With a cellular provider at least there was a chance of more fans supporting the brand with their money. Energy drinks will be at a disadvantage there.

    Nicely stated, I am with you there, I would love to see the sport go back, instead of this new direction they seem to be taking. Only time will tell how it all pans out I guess.

    Winston= Red
    Nextel/Sprint= Yellow
    Monster Energy= Green

    Like a stop light, LOL! :p:D

    As long as the sponsor cares about the sport and tries to get others more interested in it, I'm all for it.

    Nascar have been pushing to make it more appealing to the younger generation, and what do young teens like better than energy drinks?

    Then there's this, when Brian France was asked what the series would be called,
    “We are working on the exact composite logo … and we’ll be back shortly on that. It won’t be long. We’ve got some real good options on that.’’

    You know, you'd think this would be worked out before an announcement is made...

    The issue is that NASCAR had to make the announcement pretty much as soon as the deal was done, considering how late it came out. Wouldn't be surprised if the deal literally happened while they were in Las Vegas.

    I just can't wait for the winner circle... monster girls!!!!

    Not really. I am a huge monster fan and have always enjoyed there products. Not just the drinks but their apparel too. My al time favorite color is lime green too! It's a win, win, win for me!!!

    I'm really excited by this! I just hope they use the word cup.. Monster fits their brand perfectly like Winston did. The fact a Monster came out and said they want drivers to show emotion backs this up
