The coke 600 and the Winston! I feel most of the alternate schemes from 96 are all like this. Just random or an inverseWhat race was the 'reverse ' scheme from? I feel like that one wasn't particularly well thought through..... it certainly doesn't have the same POP that the normal color pattern does
Oh wow, thats a cool story! I should reach out to some of these guys eventually. Stories like that are so cool, and show a different side of the sport. Plus they make painting the cars so much more fun due to the history and story of the car!According to owner David Blair himself, (I've been chatting with him a bit) The red and white car was also the car they had took to Atlanta for the final race and had put Goodyear sponsorship on the car as a thank you to Goodyear for helping them out with the tire bill BUT Ron Barfield drove down into turn 1 & 2 on his second lap in practice and something broke on the suspension and he flat destroyed the car. They had to go to a backup that was the standard black and white but Barfield still DNQ'd.
As a side note, I asked both David and Ron if they had any photos of the Goodyear car. Neither seem to have any and Ron couldn't even remember what it looked like. He just remembered wrecking it.Oh wow, thats a cool story! I should reach out to some of these guys eventually. Stories like that are so cool, and show a different side of the sport.
