Jennerstown Speedway is only an hour's drive from where I live. It was paved in the late-80s. I started going there shortly afterwards. The track has been home to many great racers, including NASCAR Northeast Winston Racing Series champions. It has hosted many big touring events such as the ASA, Whelen Modifieds, Hooters Pro Cup and Busch North series. Sadly, the track sat dormant for five seasons; 2009 through 2013. In 2014, a group of three local men were able to lease the facility. They cleaned up the property and made much needed repairs. And, brought back weekly racing to Jennerstown. However, they were kind of in over their heads and made some questionable decisions. A group of six local business leaders, all with some type of racing background, took over management in 2015. Slowly, car counts and attendance increased. A couple of years ago three of the group of six bought the facility. Along the way, plans have included bigger events. Two years ago they created the Motor Mountain Masters race for Pro/Crate Late Models. The 2018 addition featured mostly locals. Less than 20 total. But, with $10,000 to win the following year, cars came from the Midwest, New England and many other states. Think they had 36 last year. So, that brings us to 2020. Jennerstown hosted the Whelen Modified opener in June... sans spectators. The series returns next month for their regularly scheduled event. The Super Cup Stock Car Series will also be on the card. Just this past week Jennerstown hosted a $20,000 to win CARS/CRA Super Late Model race which was won by Bubba Pollard in his first trip to the Laurel Highlands half-mile oval. There was also a $5,000 to win CRA Pro Late Model race which was won by Cody Coughlin. In a month the 3rd Annual Motor Mountain Masters race will take place. Over 40 cars are anticipated for the event, including some of the Late Model stars who competed this past weekend. As a fan, I'm thrilled to see the growth and return to prominence of the speedway. As a member of the NR2003 community, I think it's pretty cool to be able paint up cars (when I feel like it) and race on my home track. Thanks to Josh Guiher (aka Butter), the original builder of the Jennerstown NR2003 track, and John Norton for his update to the track. If you're ever in the area, I'd recommend Jennerstown as a stop on your travels.

Sounds like a Great Speedway... If I'm ever that way I'll check it out. Thanks
