Here's some of the "newer" cars I've been working on. Must have been a blast racing on the beach back in the day.
Very Nice!!
Hi everyone. I'm new to the site, but I just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work everyone does here. I've found a lot of great downloads here, so hopefully I can contribute to that soon. In the meantime, here's an in-game screenshot of some of the cars I've been working on for the GN55 mod...View attachment 3224

Did some racing today at the beautiful Lakewood Speedway with the soon-to-be-released '53-'54 season carset that DaleJrFan95 and I have been working on. Thanks again to NascarGuy42 for the link and John Norton (Wild Kustoms & Cars) for making this historic track. lakewood3.jpg lakewood4.jpg

So here's what it's like creating a carset that goes back some 64 years. Reference pictures are hard to come by to say the least. The first picture here is a still from a YouTube video of the 1953 Southern 500. A little research revealed that it's a '53 Oldsmobile number 00 and driven by Dick Passwater. It wasn't much to go on, but I started anyway. I was probably about 90% done with it (so I thought) when I stumbled upon the second pic. Finding it meant I had to redo quite a bit of what I had already done, but I was glad to do it, because now it was going to be much more accurate. It's still a little bit "pieced together" but that's the way things go with these older cars. There's a lot of educated guesses involved with 'em, but I think that's part of what draws me to them. Anyway, this particular car ended up being one of my favorite ones in the new set. Hope you guys like it! Renders are by @garrett1127 (Thanks again!) 00_1953 OLDS SOUTHERN 500.jpg 00DickPasswater-vi.jpg 00.jpg 00b.jpg

Thanks! The '53-'54 season carset is in the download section now in case anybody missed it. Hope you guys enjoy racing with them as much as DaleJrFan95 and I enjoyed painting them. Speaking of racing, I've actually been doing a little of that myself for a change since we finished this project. I downloaded a bunch of tracks this weekend and am in the process of trying them out. The main goal right now is to just have fun. Here's a nice shot of the cars at a fictional track called Zenjoltis2016.ZenJoltis2016.jpg

I took a small break from the '50's stuff and did this '75 New Yorker for the Hobby stock mod. Those of you familiar with this car know it's not supposed to have a right front door, but that's kind of impossible in this game. Ricky "borrowed" the door and hood off of Mr. Lahey's New Yorker one time, so that's the direction I went. :)ricky1.jpg ricky2.jpg

Here's some more screen shots at ZenJoltis2016 (a great fictional super Speedway BTW). This time it's sort of a "Best of GN55" car list I'm using, with cars painted by various members here at Stunod and some by myself. Thanks guys!best of gn55 Zen.jpg best of gn55 Zen2.jpg best of gn55 Zen3.jpg best of gn55 Zen4.jpg

Sorry I haven't been around here much the last couple of weeks. Hurricane Irma had left me without power for the better part of a week, but I'm just fine. I consider myself very lucky as I had very little damage to my home, and everybody I know was ok afterwards. My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Puerto Rico, who have been devastated by Maria.
I was able to get back to painting the last couple of days, so I'm grateful for that. Here's one I've been workin' on using martinrace's '55 Chrysler 300 template layers. The render is thanks to the guys at The Mod Squad and the TMS Rendering System Ver. 1.0.

That's me in the #38 car (a '51 Studebaker once driven by Frank Gise) fighting my way through traffic. The template layers I used to paint the car are of course by martinrace and are available here at Stunod in the downloads section. The track we're at is called Scotia Speedworld. It's another great track from the guys at PST. It's 0.30 miles of pure racing fun. scotia2.jpg

lol I love how these are all old cars and then there's just a modern FedEx plane in the background!

Yep, I thought the FedEx plane was really awesome, so made sure it was in my screenshot. It seems like every PST track I've tried out has some neat stuff like that in the background, or in the infield, in addition to being a great track to race on. Sure it would be nice if everything in the picture was from the same era, but then again, I think this shows how cool cars from the 1950's are, no matter what time period you drop 'em in. :)

45145908_1_27846.jpg I've been going through and painting some of the cars that weren't included in any of my GN55 carsets. Thanks to the efforts of martinrace, I can paint some cars that were left out before due to lack of templates. Most notably are the Chyrslers from the '55 and '56 seasons. I've already painted a bunch of the Kiekhaefer 300's, but here's a well-taped Lee Petty machine from 1955 that I thought was pretty cool. Thanks again to the guys at The Mod Squad and the TMS Rendering System Ver. 1.0.
