Problem: Frame rate has started to decrease even on clean redownloads

So I've started having this problem at the start of this month where my frame rate has been on a constant dive, in the previous months, I have been using MENCS2019 and 2019+ era tracks and the game ran just fine at 60 - 75 FPS, but since November the game has started to completely break down in fps, even if I use the original cup mod I only get 30 FPS max, and the replays are even worse on MENCS2019 and CUP, sometimes it will go as low as 10 FPS. I came up with replacing the D3 files and it worked for a few days before breaking again and then I had to replace it, now it completely fails, I have turned down graphics and I still only get about 25 - 35 FPS. I have tried using the original tracks and I got the same result. 30 - FPS. Just yesterday I had removed all of NR2003 from my system and downloaded a fresh NR2003 copy and I used cup, 20 - 35 FPS, I bring back MENCS2019 and I will get 25 max FPS on track and 70 to 10 on replays, the closer the pack gets, the lower the FPS, the farther the pack gets, the more FPS I get. I have all the patches and 4GB patch and other additions to broaden the graphics, DEP has been turned off, my NIVIDA is at the best quality I could put it.

id really like to find an answer to this because all of the solutions I have tried don't work and I can't find any solutions anywhere and I'm sure this thread would be helpful to me and others who have had this problem.

How do your other mods work? Do they kill the frame rates too? If not then it is the MENCS mod. It can be a frame rate killer depending on how much eye candy you have turned on.

all my other mods had the same problem as well (NXS15, MENCS2019, GEN6BR) which is confusing because at one point I had 7 mods at one point and they were all fine... I removed all my mods except for 2019 to see if that would work, which it didn't.

As for the eye-candy, the only graphics enhancers I have are from the Wild Kustoms & Cars video and from editing the "TextureSetSize" in rend_dxg

It sounds like you have done most of the steps you need to do. So there appears to be some sort of bottleneck occurring on your PC. Obviously, I'm not sure what might be causing that. Some of the more technically skilled PC "Geek" guys in here may have some ideas.

That being said, I have something for you to try. I've seen this frame rate issue posted so many times and I have a possible solution in addition to the things you've already tried, BUT it will take a good amount of work on your end. It may not solve the problem in the end, but it is a good process to use going forward no matter what.

Many of the cars posted are painted in 2048 res with 1024 res pit crews. However, I've seen a good amount of cars posted at 4096 res. Most PCs cannot handle a full field of 40-43 cars and especially on the most beautifully done high graphics tracks from the BBMC guys. So, to solve the problem you need to compress all of your car files using WinMip2. Further, you need to reduce and compress the pit crews from 1024 res down to 512 res. That step alone will pay you high dividends on increasing frame rates. I do this process on every single car file that I download.

Here's how you do it:

Once you have installed the Winmip2 utility, open that program and find the tab at the top named "Extras".

Click on that tab and select the bottom one named "NR2003 Car File Editor"

When that opens, point it to where you have your MENCS19 car files located. Select a car file and double click on it.

A window will open showing a flat of the chosen car. In the middle/left section, select "24-bit compr" and on the middle/right section select "24-bit compr".

Click on the "Save" button and allow it to overwrite.

Now, repeat that process with every one of your car files.

That's all there is to it.

Hopefully the car flats are no more than 2048x2048 res and the crews are no more than 512x512 res. If your car file is 4096x4096 res, then export the Car Texture by clicking on the button at the top. Go into the folder where it was exported to, open it with a paint program like PSP or Photoshop and resize the car to 2048 resolution. Then import that texture and compress it with the procedure outlined above. You'll need to do the same with the pit crews. Export the 1024 res crews. Resize them to 512 and then re-import and compress them onto the car file with WinMip2. (You can barely notice with the naked eye the difference between a 1024 and 512 pit crew (if at all), but the reward in reducing the size of the car file by doing this will be reflected in your improved frame rates.)

I suggest trying this with just one of your car sets and seeing what the difference is before going about this process with ALL of your car files.

Place the 'msvbvm50.dll' file in the WinMip folder.

2048 car & 1024 crew when compressed should be 3,417 KB.
And if you downsize the pit crew to 512 res and compressed with a 2048 res car flat, the car file size will drop down to 2905 KB or even less depending on the flat. Now multiply the 500 KB drop times 40 cars and that's 20,000 KB less that your PC has to process while you are racing with a full field of cars. ;)

So I did this and after trying a field of 35 cars at Daytona 2020 BBMC Day and the game ran at 14 - 20 FPS

Okay. It seems like the bottleneck is in your PC settings. Not sure how to help you with that. Hopefully someone else in here can give you help.

However, once you get things straightened out on your PC so your game is running smoothly with decent FPS, downsizing and compressing your car files is still a good habit to get into and will absolutely help your frame rates even more.

Re-reading your original post, I'll bet your issues started with a Windows update. I wonder if you can do a roll back to a date before you started having those issues with the game?

I had this problem awhile ago on a windows 10, the only thing that worked for me was renaming the nr2003.exe. Not sure why it worked, but it did, and seems to also help with fps on my current laptop.

you have no idea how much I appreciate this hahaha been trying for hours every night for 2 weeks to fix a frame rate drop issue and this is what worked

Yeah lmao, only issue is that you can't use any of the Mallon exe extensions on
ohh good to know. I don't use any of them but I've heard about em. Did you ever figure out what changing the .exe name actually does to fixe the issue? all I could think of is that it reset my windows compatibility settings an I'm assuming the issue was caused by a windows update

How old is your computer, what kind of hard drive, hard drive might be on the way out if it's older. I have fps in the 140s, it is a hp gaming computer with SSD.
