Hi everyone, just signed up the other day and wanted to see if you guys could help me out. Im trying to paint a car for the mencs19 mod and im lost. i can pain t a car with the original nr2003 templates because the background is black and i can see where the car starts and stops but when i export a car from mencs19 the background is the same color as the base so i cant tell what im doing. is there a blank template i could download to see what im doing? and also, do you guys know where to get a car viewer for mencs19 since i cant use the in game viewer? ive searched for answers to these problems but cant find anything. I have a scheme i really want to run but im new and cant use the paint request forum yet. the car im tring to create is the 2015 casey mears sqidward tenticles car lol its looks like its going to be a really challenging scheme. thanks everyone.

Sounds like your not painting the car base layer, all templates have layers, each layer needs to be highlighted to paint. If the whole template paints the color you are using than you have to check the layer on the layer palate
We need to know what paint program you are using?
PSP7 is older and will not paint over 100 layers but there are ways around that.
Google how to paint NR2003 cars you tube there are all kinds of tutorial's out there., Post a jepg of what you have painted here and your answers can be answered.

Don't get discouraged the latest paint programs new cost under 100 dollars but gimp is free psp7 is available out there.

Thanks for the reply. im using the latest version of gimp. i'll check out some more videos and some on using Gimp. One question though, what is Mask and why are you supposed to turn it off when using a template? Thanks and sorry, im definitely a noob all over again. havent been into sim racing in about 12 years or more lol

Youtube can be your friend. The mask layer is just what it says, it maskes the background when you paint so you'll be able to easily see the edges of the template objects. You always turn the mask layer off when saving your jpeg for renders or tga to import into the game, leaving the mask layer on creates some edge lines that make your paint look less than stellar.

The mask is the shape, layer of the car it just shows you what the car looks like what areas you have to paint.
The reason you turn it off when done painting your car, because you will see the outside edge lines, if you request a render it will show where your paint edge stops.
Leave it on while your painting just close it when done.
Instead of painting a car open a template find your layer palate and open and close each one, some you will have to click the X on right to just paint the layer lock transparency.

here is a little read that is helpful

One other thing you are tackling one of the most advanced templates going, MENCS templates have the most detail, you might want to back track a bit, something like this 2005 tucknut cts theres only ten layers pretty easy to paint this.

Keep digging!

It sounds to me like you're exporting a tga file and trying to paint on it. You need to go to SnG's website and download an actual PSD template and the car viewer files.

thanks guys this helps even though im still confused as hell lol The way i was trying to do it was exactly like you would do with the original nr2003 create your driver then export it and open in gimp edit what i want and import back into the game to check the 3d view then back to the in game paint and make the car whatever make i want then done. you guys have really taken things to another level with these mods, you dont really appreciate how much time and effort goes into until you look inside and try to see how its done. i know theres a car viewer that acts like the 3d viewer in the game right? so after i create my paint scheme i import to the viewer to make the car ford, chevy etc.?
