Hello!

Sorry I did not introduce myself when I originally signed up.

My name is Troy. I’m a designer and digital illustrator. Also a huge fan of the 1990s Thunderbirds. I started playing the original NASCAR Racing back in 94/95 before making the switch to NASCAR Racing 2. NR2 is where I cut my teeth learning to paint digitally. I spent hours painting cars pixel by pixel (way more than driving). It’s also one of the first games I learned how to install mods for from online resources. From there I moved to 1999 edition, NR3, NR4, and the last game I played was NR2002. I never actually got NR2003 back when it was released, and drifted away from racing sims and PC gaming in general. Life goes on, I continued with digital design and art and ended up making it a career.

Fast forward to mid-2023. My whole life I’ve had a strong interest in things that “could have been”. Unproduced action figures, can’t get enough of ‘em. Unbuilt theme park attractions, I want to know everything. Turns out it’s the same thing with stock cars. That year, I saw a post online about the 1993 Mercury Cougar that Cale Yarborough Motorsports built to test with. Then I found out about Kranefuss-Haas Racing 1996 Lincoln MKVIII and I had found a great rabbit hole to go down.

So now I’ve downloaded NR2003, installed all the mods, got Reshader up and running, and I’ve started painting cars and modifying templates. I’ve also been teaching myself 3ds Max to modify the cars for rendering. I want to create a full fictional 1993 season, using a bunch of car types that were not used but “could have been” with a 110-ish-inch wheelbase.

I don’t know that I’ll be posting very often, but I thought I would introduce myself. Thanks for having me!
