How about a start date even an approximate start date? It'll put the spurs to folks painting and let some of us know if we can make the date. Plus it indicates there is a plan.

One of the things that helped kill SRD's Offline Leagues section was the number of never starts/never went anywhere series posted. As Ia huge Offline Series fan I was actually glad to see that section close because it was poorly moderated and folks just threw up a new series as a whim, then never followed through. It makes series offline series folks look bad. I believe in them and want to see this section bear fruit...

Dates help make that reality happen.

Thanks, Bill

Bingo! I was wondering what ever happened to the the other half a dozen series that got started on here. I signed up for one, but never saw anything happen, except for one race I think.. Dunno if there's any series stats or what not. First time I ever signed up for an offline league in over a dozen plus years of being around sims.. lol

Mine are not sign up series, but I've never been able to progress past the first race. Once I get my new wheel I may but my ambitions always overwhelm me :p

I may just settle on a 1997 Career. ARGH! Just can't decide on what to do

I have a strong opinion on this. I feel the name should be changed to Simulated Racing , there are other forms of offline racing . I was an offline league director with Soar Racing for a number of years .
The offline Racing we did was you had to actually run a race against the AI and send your results in and than the director would tally them up. ISRS is one of the few leagues like this that is left. Mike Spin has been offline director for darn near 20 years now. His league has Racing every week CJ won a race here last week .

Out of respect to the series folks, let's keep the individual series threads free of non-related discussions.

I'd like to open with a couple thoughts.

First off, I have a long history in the community as an Offline Leagues "guy" having owned Zoom Racing World after running various sites Offline series prior to that. I've run over a hundred series personally and in fact the original Stunod Racing Offline Series was a direct spin off of my leagues operation.

Short of laying down a bunch of rules (which I believe can stifle growth) I'd like to see the folks starting these various Offline Series do at least one thing. That is be very serious in considering the depth of your obligation BEFORE opening a thread and series.

If you start a series, I and everyone else that may get involved want to see it through. Running these things, no matter which method you choose is a serious commitment in time and energy. If you can't keep that commitment to the end of your posted schedule, don't start it. It's plum annoying. I can't tell you how many times I allowed someone to run a series at ZRW only to see them abandon it before it was set to end, leaving me to pick it up and finish it, all that with my own series (multiple usually) in mid schedule. I want to see these thing finished.

The best way to make this happen is set dates and deadlines for things to take place. Whether it be getting car flats or files finished and posted or a first race start date, it's important that your entrants not be waiting around wondering when this thing is going to get going. Respect that.

I see a couple guys have multiple series posted and frankly I'm worried about whether or not they are going to happen. I bet folks signed up are too. DATES!

OK enough of my blathering....let's make these series a positive thing for the site by keeping commitments and following through with the plans set forth.

And it felt AWESOME Bergie! :D I wish more people would do it, cause(no offense to online racers), there is too much chaos in an online race, and with my internet issues, I am very rarely able to race online. But with the ISRS, I can race whenever I can, send them to Spin, and wait for Monday-Tuesday when he shares the results. It's such a blast!

Now, to Highbank's point, I 100% agree. Personally, the best way IMO to do it is to have a set date, and those that paint their cars in time can have their custom cars in from the beginning, while the guys that don't get there's done in time can use a preset/default car until they send in their custom schemes.

Fillers...but it's important that folks understand that they need to hustle them in asap, I used to have penalties for cars posted after deadlines, folks got to know it's also wasting the race admin's time to not be on top of things, a two-way street.

The most joy I get out of a offline series is where I do the basic stuff I guess: simulate through the real years of racing using just the regular cars/trucks, no signsup and just do the races. And I've done tons of these too, I've simulated the first three years of the truck series(95-97), the first two of the Busch, 82 and 83, the first 3 in IROC and the first 5 in the Canadian Tire/Pinty's Series.

I'm sure I've asked before but those are ok to post right? I tend to have alot more..room and control I guess you could say because I post these on a forum that I own and another I'm an Admin at where I can post them all in a single place but I'd like to show off these races to more people since the traffic at those are down to just a few people.

I'd call what you do more of a "Mock Season" and you are very welcome to create a thread in that section to post the progress and results of your series there.
Sounds interesting....

Well I actually in fact run a "mock season" everything else I do is based on real life with no changes to the racers or race length. I just find the stats for that race, get the cars/trucks and track ready, apply the ratings and let them race. My mock season I add in drivers and fix ratings a tad on some while trying to keep things fair.

I will post my mock season where it should go with the others shortly but the offline one here I'm still uncertain about.

ATTENTION Members with Offline Leagues!!!

I absolutely DESPISE Abandoned Offline Series, it gives Offline Series a bad name. It is not fair to the folks who signed up for you as a series owner to walk away without a post that you have decided not to do it. Commit and follow through folks!

If your series/thread survived the clean up I just finished, you need to post some activity every week at the very least if you want it to survive the next culling.

If you have a series I'm going to ask you again to edit your original post and add a START DATE for your series.
If you series doesn't have one the next time I check through the section I will delete it.

If you are one of the folks that just had your series thread deleted, and you have another one left, you had better tend to it, it will be deleted.

Here's My Idea: Since Tell it To My Heart is getting down to the wire, I Will Like to see a Completed Offline Leagues Board made up of those who completed a Offline League Season or Two and it will be locked for archive purposes, I hope it will happen!

I'll just lock them and mark them completed like we do the requests...How's that?

I understand that they can be handy for reference once completed...

Long time ago, far, far away....Zoom Racing World 2012
Check out my Castrol Doran getting tossed and making a spectacular save about the 2:30 mark....I didn't start that! The footage supports me on that!

Raising the bar folks would make your Offline Series much more intersting to the members who sign-up...post some screen captures, make a highlights video...easy to do, let the action become real for your participants...

Just sayin' folks...
