Is there anyway to fix the AI at Bristol? They're always going too fast into or out of turns and scrape the wall.wrecking every 5-10 laps when I do race and it's really annoying. I like cautions and wrecks but when it happens every second, it starts to get lame and boring. Your assist is much appreciated

Did you install NR2003 from the original CD or did you download it from somewhere? Most of the NR3003 downloads on the internet are using a modified Papy AI file which can really mess things up.

Well, if it's Bristol Night 2014 FSE, I personally set up the a.i. for that version and the a.i. should run fine providing that the retail Papy_ai.ini is being used, a carset with "reasonable" ratings and opponent strength also set at a "reasonable" level (between 97% - 102% should work fine). We did a ton of testing between several people and none reported the issues you are experiencing. However, that being said, the README file does outline a couple of things to be aware of. From the README file:

"We also made an effort to get the A.I. to have an occasional random wreck that would bring out some cautions to further enhance the realism. In trying to achieve this, we first went through the entire track and made sure that the proper surface designations were in place to allow for cautions when wrecks and spin-outs occur. In addition, we had to "push the envelope" a bit with the settings in the track.ini. This required getting the A.I. to race a little tighter, change lanes and be a little more aggressive. As a result, the end user may experience an early wreck or 2 between the A.I. at the beginning of a race. This is because at the start of a race, the pack is at its largest and tightest. Testing revealed that once a couple of early wrecks occurred, then the A.I. seemed to settle down and spread out. However, once another random wreck occurred, the restart would re-tighten the pack and as the saying goes....."Cautions can breed more cautions". Kind of like real life racing!

KNOWN A.I. ISSUES. There are a couple of known issues with the A.I. that we wanted to make you aware of:
3. Safer Barrier Protrusions. The A.I., while racing in the outside groove and 3-wide, will occasionally brush the Safer Barrier walls protruding out on the straightaways."

If you are using a retail papy_ai.ini, a carset with "reasonable" ratings and opponent strength also set at a "reasonable" level (between 97% - 102% should work fine) you should be experiencing realistic results. However, if you still want to reduce cautions, then you can try adjusting the the following lines from the track.ini:

ai_dlat_pad = 0.45 (increase to 1.00)
ai_squeeze_pcnt = 0.70 (reduce to 0.00)
ai_inverse_slipcurve_k = 0.23 (increase to 0. 60)

You can also try some of the following tweaks outlined in this post:

Hopefully some of these suggestions will solve your problems and make the track more enjoyable for you. :)

What do you mean by reasonable ratings? I have read many guides but none of them have been really helpful.
Most people do not share their systems, so I have to guess work, and usually they turn out like hot garbage.

Well, maybe I should have written "unreasonable" ratings. Cars with ratings where ratings are all set at 100 is what I would classify as unreasonable. If you are using a generically rated set (40 min - 60 max) those should work fine. I would suggest that you go and download the NRatings program for NR2003 and rate your car sets using that awesome program.
