Dover... I have some mixed results at Dover as far as Online racing goes...
I hate the place.
IF I could get sandbox working, I'd make a 1 mile version of the track (I was working on when my computer crashed) because I really dislike the "too short, too narrow" 0.975 mile NR2003 version. I had one in beta, needed to move some stuff and make new .lp files but it died with my computer... :-(
Dover and Michigan are two NR2003 tracks I know of where Papyrus turned the "tracks are measured 15 feet from the wall" lie into a virtual reality.
I can't recall the name of the guy, but I talked with the Dover GM years ago and he told me that white line around the apron is exactly 1 mile long so I made a 1 mile version and lap times were dead on. Running the "Harry Gant" line was possible and it seemed huge, like the "Monster Mile" it was nicknamed (before the concrete, Fox and the rest of the BS).
See for yourself?
Take a car, ride the white line around the apron at 60 MPH and it would take 60 seconds IF it the game track was 1 mile but instead it takes 58.512 seconds, which equatest to 0.9752 miles. That's why lap times at Dover are always much faster than reality.
Michigan is too short but I don't recall exactly how short. I'd made a 2 mile version but again, computer crash wiped me out. :-(
Either way, like or not, Have fun!! ;-)
