Great work on the templates, they look awesome. Would love to get my hands on them as well. Got 3 years of Petty cars for the 2000 mod I'm currently working so these would be a help to me.

I hope you'll be offering these for download

Well your wish is my command, my template updates are officially on the downloads section, AND as .PSD files (apperantly an update to GIMP fixed the PSD layer group flattening bug)

Here are 3 near-final versions of alternate templates I plan to release very soon. The first alt-template pack will be General Motors focused, rounding out their 3 "other" car divisions

2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue
98-02 Oldsmobile Intrigue.png
This has already been shown and talked about, and will spearhead the pack.

2000 Buick Regal
97-04 Buick Regal.png
Not exactly the all conquering car of the early 80's, this interpretation of the turn-of-the-millennium grandpa car provides those who want Buick in their rosters their fill.

2000 Cadillac Eldorado
96-02 Cadillac Eldorado.png
The Eldorado has the most early 90's styling of the bunch. The quarter window shape of the real Eldo will never work on Cup2000, but I think I've captured enough of the real cars mojo for peoples eyes to fill in the rest.

Today I've been slowly re-working the S&G Cup2000 templates.

2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
00-02 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.png

Starting off with the Chevy, this had the most modifications of any template, with me totally redoing the rear shading and the upper nose, from a 2002 original Cup Monte Carlo, as well as angling the headlights further down. Final touches were the shading around the bottom of the cockpit to make them align better.

2000 Pontiac Grand Prix
96-02 Pontiac Grand Prix.png

This has far less in the modifications department, as most of the work was done at the rear, simplifying the bumper shading, redoing the liscence plate holder shading taken from the Cup98 Grand Prix template, and the rear tail light shading, taken from the same cup98 template. I also adjusted the template to use the taller valence tape option, as well as modified the lower grill to fit the smaller frontal area, and did the same greenhouse shading as on the Monte.

2000 Ford Taurus
00-02 Ford Taurus.png
The Taurus shading has also been reworked, with the nose losing the lip under the headlights and grill, simplifying the rear shading, and the usual greenhouse adjustments. I shortened the grills horizontally which went a long way to reshaping the appearance of the nose, and did some work on the hood lines, as the template warping meant that I had to "zig-zag" them in order for it to look straight on the model, and flattened the frontal edge of the hood lines to make it seem less exaggerated and more accurate.

2001 Dodge Intrepid
98-02 Dodge Intrepid.png

The changes on this are mostly small but noticeable. First, the rear shading rework customary of these cars. I "lowered" the nose by moving the grill, headlights, and shading downwards, and added a more accurate upper grill piece. The lower grills, grill blackout and foglights are seperated from the single layer that they were a part of, and that concludes the major changes.

2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue
98-02 Oldsmobile Intrigue.png

Intriguing isn't it. This is a typical Pontiac rework with custom shading and decals, plus the large grill from the original template.
hopefully this means we might get some updated carpacks for cup2000

I removed the templates from the site after a rightful and just telling off by @Cosmin Ioaneșiu for misuse of his work.

And to Cosmin, I am sorry that I misappropriated your work and bastardized it. I originally intended to the changes to be personal tweaks kept to myself, but ended up being peer pressured and hounded into release despite me knowing in my heart it wasn't right.

I respect you and everything you and the S&G group have done for this game, and I have learned from this experience to trust my gut when it says no, and have been around the community long enough to know better, and not do what I did.

Well, this week I've been back working on 3d models. primarily low-poly focused, but now with hand drawn retro-style pixel textures.

Firs up is the #3 Dodge, owned by Raymond Fox, and primarily driven by Buddy Baker.

Next Up is the #6 Cotton Owens Dodge, driven mainly by Buddy Baker and Chargin' Charlie Glotzbach.

Finally is the #71 K&K Insurance team, famously piloted by Buddy Isaac

All models and textures are scratch made by me.

Adding to the Chevy Camaro I posted earlier, here is one of it's planned running-mates, the Buick Gran Sport, in W.I.P status.

1969 Buick Gran Sport 455.png
The long term idea is to create a custom modded install of rfactor or some other sim in the vein of titles like TOCA Race Driver, with a variety of car classes to pick from, and physics designed to be gamepad/controller friendly, with the intent of eventually getting a Valve Steam Deck and using said modded install as my primary racing game on the system.

One of those classes I have dubbed "American Iron." Essentially this is a pesudo-NASCAR/Trans-Am hybrid based around American Muscle cars of the late 60's/early 70's, and so far have planned the Dodge Charger 500, Chevrolet Camaro SS, and Buick Gran Sport. Whether I use the GS400 or GS455 depends on preformance balancing, as I'd like to keep to NASCAR's 429 C.I. limit, though I'm willing to go higher depending on intended balance(and fun factor of course)

Good afternoon! Would you mind posting your Ward Burton CAT Dealers scheme from 2000? I would love to have for my offline use. Side note, that's the first race I ever watched start to finish. Been hooked since. Thank you.

Well, it's been a while, but not for a lack of effort. Recently I have been doing more 3d modeling, and have come up with something I'm pretty happy with

2000 Reynard 2Ki Champ Car - Speedway Aero Kit
Reynard 2Ki.png
Believe it or not this is the first open wheeler/formula car I have ever modeled. I have done road cars, stock cars, GT cars, but this is something a bit outside my wheel house. Since this picture was taken, I have applies smoothing to the car to somewhat mask the low-polyness, and in the future will map out the car, though considering the complexity, that will be a task in and of itself.

This model features some extra detail compared to my usual fair, as not only are the wings separate pieces (something I have done on GT cars I've made in the past) but the unique characteristics of open wheel cars sees the modeling of suspension arms, steering wheel, and of course a driver to fill the cockpit (how's about we call him Dave?)

These separate parts allow me to potentially add more detailed damage, whether I put it in NR2003, Automobilista, or a game of my own design (something I have been looking at doing)

Well, I'm back with another paint, this time for the Cup2000 mod as I return to the 2005 season.

2005 - #24 Jeff Gordon - DuPont Automotive Finishes Chevrolet - Hendrick Motorsports
24 Jeff Gordon DuPont.png
2005 was a down year for Jeff Gordon's standards, as despite 4 wins and 2 poles including the season opening Daytona 500, the DuPont team missed the second ever Chase for the Cup, an inconsistent season with 9 DNF's being the root cause. The team ended the year with 8 top 5's and only 14 top 10's, leaving them licking their wounds and regrouping for 2006.

2005 - #48 Jimmie Johnson - Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse Chevrolet - Hendrick Motorsports
48 Jimmie Johnson Lowes.png
Jimmie Johnson's 2005 season was another strong season, but just short of a championship, with 2 poles and 4 wins, along with 13 top 5's and 22 top 10's. The #48 team led the points for much of the first half of the season, but would slip a little into the fall. The chase reset put them right back in the title fight, but a crash at Homestead put an end to his championship ambitions.

Here is a Cup90 template not based on any real race car, but one that fills an important gap anyways.

1992 Plymouth Acclaim
2048 Plymouth Acclaim.png
It was either this, the Sundance, or the Lazer to be made, and the Lazer being a small sports car I felt was out of place, while the Sundance was too small. THe Acclaim is still about 5-10 inches short in wheelbase but it is the closeset Chrysler Corperations volume brand had, so I went with it.

The rear window peices I basically copied and pasted from the Cougar with minor adjustments, the grill is the Cup90 Buick one flipped upside down and stretched, with the upper trim taken off a google photo. The hood shading was adjusted a bit, but otherwise worked perfectly for the purposes needed, and the rest of the decals were trivial.

Next up on the docket is a Hot Rod Lincoln

1990 Lincoln MK7
2048 Lincoln MKVII.png
This car took some serious work, so lets start going over the modifications. Starting with the nose, the Grill took several passes to get right, going across 3 seams. The Grill itself is, like the Plymouth above, a modification of the Buick Grill, changed to look like the Lincolns. I extended the hood shading all the way down the nose, to give the impression of the "kick out" the Lincoln had IRL, while a dark shading patch furthers the effect.

Going back to the windows, it was a heavy modification of the Luminas, to the point where it doesn't even look like the same piece, and also took a few attempts to look right. Finally the rear, which sees the iconic rear wheel hump added, while the spoiler is properly tapered along said hump.
