In December of last year my uncle and I decided to make the jump and upgrade computers for a better racing experience. We decided on two Dell Inspiron 5675's with the AMD Ryzen 5 setup and Windows 10 assuming this would be enough to run nr2003 fairly well even with mods. Overall the computer is very nice it runs the game at a decent frame rate for a 4k monitor. Everything ran fairly well through the first few months and then we both began to have the same problem. During a race with no clear reason (one track or being far back in the field) and no definitive time such as a certain lap the game will freeze the sound turns to a low hum and the computer restarts. At first I thought I should go through and update all drivers this didn't help. I tried lowering or turning off any graphics modifications that had been made again with no such luck. At this point I'm pretty well out of ideas. I believe I'm going to uninstall the game and reinstall it without any mods and see what happens but to properly troubleshoot that means I must add each series and track in one by one. Obviously that's a process no one wants to go through. Does anyone have any ideas that they believe could be causing my problem that I should try before that horror?

What you could do is copy you're Series and track folders, or any other important NR2003 folders, and uninstall/reinstall the game

Do you have all your cores turned on and all your ram usable? Windows 10 makes you do that manually and you have to do it every time Windows updates.

Configure 3D graphics, and set it lower than your screen resolution.

How do I go through and do that? I don't remember ever doing it personally. Even when I go through and do graphics updates given by roguetoad I haven't been changing usable cores that I'm aware of but I'm no genius when it comes to that stuff so I may have. Would the usable ram be controlled by your max block size in the core.ini? I changed my max block size from the 524288 recommended by roguetoad back to 131072 which was the number at installation and that seemed to help but I've only ran one race since then.

My uncle experiences the same problem just running 1080p so it doesn't seem to me that it would be an issue with resolution. No guarantee that I'm right in that assumption though.

In System Configuration, under the Boot tab click advanced options you'll see what your pc is using and if it's not running processors change it and unclick Maximum memory.

I want to make sure I'm understanding all this correctly before I make changes. After all this computer is only about 6 months old I'd hate to do something that would cause problems outside of the game. When I go into system configuration you're saying I need to change my number of processors to the maximum amount I have (8). The way I understand it is that I'm currently only using one for everything which seems rather stupid when there's seven more just sitting there. Also I included all of my system information and graphics information. Maybe I'm trying to push too much out of my computer my thought was that you all would know better than I would. My understanding of how much a computer needs to do this or that is pretty basic so any information you can give helps. Thank you in advance.

Nope, that's just Windows being stupid and you have to do after every Windows update.

In that last pic you posted, click the number of processors and put the number to the amount you have.

I found all this information on the net, don't believe me, do a search.

Dude I have that exact same issue with the same computer, but only difference is that mine came with the RX 580 in stead of 570. But I think it could be the computer we are using now... but we can try to work it out

ti2blegrr first off I want to say thank you for your continued help on this issue. Secondly I'm sorry to report that after running two races successfully and being thoroughly happy with my computer I experienced the same dreaded hum in the speakers and a frozen screen which quickly changed to a dell logo and a system reboot for no specific reason. No warning signs such as a drop in frame rate or anything just an annoying hum and a reboot. Any other ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I'm beginning to agree with you. Three people with the exact same problem isn't a coincidence, it's a trend. If my computer was 10 years old and I was looking for something newer this issue would be a welcomed excuse to upgrade, but when its 6 months old and runs like a top in every other thing you do it's a pain in the butt problem.

Hums and locks? I had that problem way back in 2004, all I had to do was update the drivers on my sound card which was aftermarket, ya never know, even tho that was Windows XP it might be the same thing.

Do you have any graphics override the game in the Radeon settings? I had some things on and I turned them all off and I haven't had the crash since then

So you're saying do away with any game profile settings in the Radeon settings? That seemed to fix your problems?

Yes, turn all of that off. I think is actually Surface Format Optimization that is the issue, but I didn't want to test that as I still use Anti-aliasing at 4xEQ and that's all I have on. No more issues with the game.

I'll give that a try I cleared my game profile and went to race tonight and it crashed on the first lap of the race. I'm doing AMD updates now and then I'll try to just turn on the same things as you and see what happens. Hopefully you found the solution.

I have yet to find a solution to this issue. Despite having this computer for less than a year I believe I am going to attempt to sell this computer and buy something else in hopes of better results. Any suggestions on computers would be appreciated.
