No.
Those V8's are road racing cars, NASCAR cars aren't.

The differences in terms of footprint, wheelbase, track, tyre size, weight, are not as stark as you think.
The very very big differences now are spring and shock rates and the underpinning geometry to do with toe, stagger, and camber.

The fact that a Cup Series car already goes on dirt and road courses, suggest that a Cup Series car is actually more versatile than a Supercar.

Nascar designed these cars with Road Course racing specifically in mind BUT they failed. These cars have shown that with terrible RC races this year already. A Street course will not change that fact.
And as for street racing overall, I don't really get it. As a fan, it doesn't make sense to me. The sight lines are going to be much worse than most road courses. Hell, I'd take Topeka over a street course any day. And I've been to races there and the only sight line is the front stretch drag strip unless you are at the drag start end then you can see the cars come around the last part of the esses.
Nascar is an Oval Series and we need to cut back on the road racing. PERIOD!
Not eliminate it alltogether but cut it back.
After watching a number of AUSCAR/Nascar Australia races really, Gold Coast was the only road race that was fun to watch.

I'm surprised so many people are so against road racing. I love it! I definitely don't think it needs to be dominant in the sport, but it can be fun. It is a challenge for the drivers and it is something different. Different does not always mean bad.

They constantly claim the Cup drivers are the best in the world, without the road courses to prove their metal...

With that said, I don't favor a road course, been to them they are just parties for a ton of people who are not there for the race. The viewing is poor.

I love road racing, it's the best racing there is, with that said American stock cars and their driver were brought up doing ovals. I've been watching NASCAR for over 40 years and the road racing was never that good. @Highbank still says "I'm taking the Petty line threw the esse's."

You might have a future at NASCAR HQ.
You can put any vehicle on any track or surface; aside from water I suppose. It doesn't mean you should. You have a whole field of drivers and dirt pro's who publicly vocalize that Cup cars don't belong on dirt.

A (V8) Supercar, which is the roughly same length as a Cup Series car but slightly narrower.

I don't understand the hate for street courses.

Especially considering that I have seen this kind of thing before.
I don't understand the hate for street courses either. The Pinty's series races on 2 each year (Toronto & GP3R) and they are some of the best races of the year (More GP3R, Toronto is decent)

I say give it a chance before fans make a concrete opinion. New car, new track. Could be a good show.

No.
For elevation specifically, there will be barely and elevation change because they run right by Lake Michigan, I have been in that area quite a few times before myself

As someone who grew up in a civil engineer's house, I find the word "elevation" disturbing and confusing.

An "Elevation" when you are talking about the side view, or the cross sectional view of a thing (most roads allow for a crown with a 1-2% crossfall) is a very different animal to the other thing called a "Height Map".

As A.J. Foyt once put it, "The drivers use to come to the track carrying their helmets, now they come carrying a briefcase".

They have pretty much taken the "good ole boy racing" out of it.

The 5 lugs gone, is the jackman next?

Are they going to have 2 dudes with levers pick up car or air cylinders?

The transaxle.

Taking all of the fun out of it, don't like the pre-planned stage racing, no mystery there.

The playoffs, this isn't baseball!!!!

Use to be hardcore now it's getting close to being pussified.

Chicago was the starting line for the first American auto race in 1895. That's as old school as it gets.

Oh believe me, I know that, but I'm saying for how much the roads are crowned for water drainage.
