Ok, what is the deal ? Why is he leaving ?
No-one knows. I've see a few people with insider info from the garage say he's tired of the grind taking a toll on his personal life. He's always been a pretty private person, so I'd imagine that's a possibility. Until the press-conference tomorrow, it's anyone's guess. I hope it's not due to illness. Carl's a pretty nice guy.
Got to be health related, I can't see him retiring from the best ride in Nascar without winning a Championship for anything other than something health related.
There's a press conference going on NASCAR on Fox currently, and they've heard it from Edwards itself that it's not health related. He wants to spend more time with his kids.
Can't blame him for that.
Also John Wes Townley reitred
Daniel Suarez will replace Edwards in the 19 as far as I know
Shocker indeed, I have a theory about why, but I'll wait until it is brought into the open before speaking to it...
We'll see, nothing done in secret remains in the cover of that shadow....not in this world...
This really sucks I wanted carl to win a championship. He could have done it this season too, he was coming off his best season statistically since 2012
The question now is who replaces Danny in the 19 NXS ride (assuming it stays)? My money's on Ben Rhodes, he can bring the Alpha money while continuing Toyota relationship, plus he's a darn good driver (in my opinion).
Man this sucks. I am not a fan of Toyota or JGR, but I always found myself cheering Carl on.
I like where you're going with that one @Highbank and, if it alludes to your theory about Carl, we might be on the same wave of thinking! A "normal" person doesn't get wrecked in the last race, dashing all hope for a near year long pursuit of a coveted championship in the sport they love, then immediately bury the hatchet with the team that was behind his own suffering. There's only one type of people that does such things, those people, too, are the very same that will leave behind every shred of what they think is right for what is placed in their heart I'm assuming here and definitely could be wrong, but I'd be shocked if I were!
Time will tell...
1. He's satisfied with his career
2. Wants to spend time with his family
3. and most importantly probably his first reason, He wants to stay Healthy. Dale Earnhardt Jr's concussion last year probably had a lot to do with Carl's decision.
Spike I absolutely hope you are spot on....
Whatever he chooses to do, I fully support him, its just sad to see a fierce competitor go.
I've changed my thinking on this, I think he's having a "Maverick" moment, everyone is thinking, "Maverick! Engage! Get back in there!". Carl is saying, "No, it's just no good"...
The idea of a "safer barrier" is an oxymoron....
