Hi! I’m new to track making, started a few months ago and I’d say I’ve got a hang of the basics. For my first main project, I’m doing the RFK Stadium circuit, a 1.6 mile temporary course in Washington D.C. that was only used once in 2002 by the ALMS. My overall goal is to serve an under-served market for the game and make temporary courses that haven’t been made yet. A couple other projects I have right now include a fictional circuit using the parking lots and access roads around MetLife Stadium, and the SCCA course in Des Moines.

However, I ran into a snag that I posted about on Reddit a few days ago, but found no answers. Once I had placed the first few TSOs and loaded the track in-game, all of the track textures became black, with the car lighting being extremely dark.

I spent an entire day this last weekend messing with sandbox, googling for answers, even combed the corpse of SRD via wayback machine for about 2 and a half hours and no answers. Took the TSOs out, repacked previous saves and loaded them, dragged it through NR datter multiple times to trim the fat, no matter what I do it stays the same. The only change that did anything was switching the track to “night”, which obviously does this number right here

As dope as I think this track would look under the lights, this is meant to be a day track, and if there’s a solution from someone smarter than me that doesn’t involve leaving the track set to “night” and installing lights, then I’d love to hear it. I went ahead and relaid the track to restart the entire project, but have the og saves just in case a fix was found. I’m looking forward to learning and contributing as much as I can for this game and the community. Thanks!

I'm not sure that the following may be causing this issue, but... do you have any light 3dos in the track, like street lights or track tower lights? If so, they may be 3dos that came from a night track. Try removing those and see if that solves the problem.

I believe @J.R. Franklin is right here. Even if you set the track to be a "night track" in Sandbox, if there is ANY object in the track that is emitting light, the track will kind of assume it's a night track. Hopefully it's not too much of a hassle for you to find the object causing the problem.

Thank you both so much! Just got back from honeymoon, I’ll have to crack it open to check and see once I get settled back in. I had went ahead and started on a new version but kept the old one for learning purposes more or less.

A big part of why that and another track I was making (a fictional Meadowlands circuit) went wrong I think is bc I was too excited to start and dumped a bunch of stuff to play with into the folder without paying attention to the source ;) ended up starting clean and streamlined the process to where there’s more attention paid to what I need in the moment, also thanks to tips from this site
