So, in an attempt to keep myself away from the family members that I didn't particularily want to associate with, I fired up ASR for the first time in a long while. As I rediscovered, I definitely prefer racing the road courses on ASR rather than NR2003. When it comes to ovals, the latter is definitely king. But something about ASR's road-course racing physics works really well (probably because it's an rFactor shoot off). They feel definitely a little less float-y, which is something I felt going back and forth on Sonoma between the two games

ASR on ovals though? Definitely a bit...strange, in comparison to NR2003.

It does. From what I've seen, ASRX has quite a few leagues that still are quite active. They stream most of their races as well.

I have yet to participate in one though, for either ASRX or any sim for that matter. I don't wanna get into a race and screw up a championship hunt for someone. If I'm gonna participate in an online race, I wanna be competent that I can be competitive, rather than being a road-block.

I have the original disk, we used to race it at FMS before Iracing came out. I haven't had it on my system for years, it was a fun sim and painting for it was great!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, But I just found out about this today. I'm very interested. Found a website with the download.
Is it worth it? Is it still active?
just very curious

ASR is dead, there is an rFactor conversion mod and I think it's listed somewhere in this forum, but I'm sure a quick Google search can find it.

Wouldn't say it's dead, but it's not as active as it was at one point. Still a few leagues out there for it I think

Does anyone have the American Stock Car Mod for rFactor? Arca split into ASRX and ASC for rF1, but ASC seems to be incredibly hard to come by now. I've looked through the threads and searched online all last night and today and I cannot find it in the wild.

It had a facebook based community that's gone now that everyone linked back to for the download.

But I thought this was the main Arca 08 rfactor mod you had mentioned in other threads? I can't find another arca rfactor mod. American Stock Car seems like my best bet to migrate the arca car models over from ASRX/08 because so far that hasn't worked with any stock car mod.

That's really all I'm looking for, is for VHR, Stock Car Evolution, Nascar Sim Series or something else to run the ARCA car models.

I've been working with ASRX, getting the AI working at the superspeedway tracks and have come up with some nice results at Talladega. I also reworked the field so ai's can use liveries again. I've added a couple of my own that I've either made and/or found and weeded out some of the more egregious looking fakes.

I've got two versions in decent shape. Both have good 3-4 wide action. Outside line moves. The ai look for the draft, follow you, push, and can spin you. The isi/gMotor ai are better than they get credit for.
This is "AltAero" example. It is the "racier" version. The cars are looser and suck up to each other faster. In the standard version, it's easier to lose the draft. The cars feel more restricted. Pushing and helping become the only ways to move. Picking the right lines matter more. More reminiscent of the 2001-03ish era.

AltAero Talladega Edit - ASRX

The ai in NR2003 have really worn thin for me. they ultimately don't feel very alive. ASRX, while collisions could use a lot of attention, it has fantastic graphic, physics and ai that feel far more awake.

Would love to know your thoughts. Happy to share my work. Working on Daytona currently.
