So I'm new this and I've searched everywhere on how to do the modeling/rendering. I've download the "15Gen6_MRScene" with the single and dual cars from Bullring along with the other various files from that site.
For all of the files whether it be scanline or brazil it shows only as wireframes as shown.

When I render it will show which ever manufacturer I have selected. My question is how do I get it to show the basic body model before I ever render it with a paint scheme because every video I've scene shows a body model already open in 3ds Max.

Rendering is now done when I go through the F9/Render and it opens to show the full car with whatever scheme is added. I'm just wondering how in some videos I've seen when a person opens 3ds Max the car model shows as a plain car with no rendering done. Is it like that for everyone?

I am a little confused, 3ds max opens to blank viewports until a scene is loaded. I have never seen anything like your screenshots show.

Well that's not comforting. I've tried every file from bullring and that's what it shows. It's 3ds Max 2016 - Student Version. When I render it's fine, but in the viewport everything shows like those pictures above and I've seen in tutorial that the .bmp is just dragged over on the model. Also, the individual pieces of the car such as the wheels, steering wheel, engine, etc. show up in the viewport as lines not a model. When I say model I mean like plain white car in the viewport. May I ask what version you have, if you do use 3ds Max? I'm trying as best as possible to learn and find out on my own, but this has me stumped. Thanks for any help, I'll continue to provide info to any willing to help.

I have 3ds max 5,8,9 and 2014. The bullring scenes require adding paints in the material editor. No drag and drop. I made the mental ray scene for the bullring, I have never had it work like you show. I will download it from bullring, and open in 2014 just to check for you.

No the bull ring scene is fine. are you opening the scene first or do you open 3 dmax first?

I would suggest showing the screenshots to the Autodesk community forum. I am sure somebody there can help.

Figured it out guys. In the Customize>Preferences>Viewports in the display driver section it defaults as "Nitrous 3D 11 (Recommended)" and should be changed to "Nitrous Software".
