I thought I'd run a second MS with the 2023 Fictional carset by ChargeNick1563 (I think). Schedule will be the same as 2020. I'll be adding pictures to this one, and this also won't replace my Aussie parallel universe, I'll be running these races while I do other things and just grabbing highlights.

BREAKING: DUEL GRIDS ANNOUNCED, AND DAYTONA QUALI

Qualifying: Just like @JJ2478 mock season, qualifying is only for cars who are not locked in. The fastest two lock themselves in. Here's the results:
1592260098329.png
Gragson and Gaulding lock themselves in. Not unexpected results, apart from the slowness of the #7.

Now for the duel grids. Note: I swapped Bilicki and Gaulding after this was screenshotted, so that there was an even number of not locked in cars in each heat.

Duel 1:
1592259785103.png
1592259800208.png
NOT LOCKED IN: Haley, Kennington, Moffitt, Sieg, Smithley, Theriault

Duel 2:
1592259832580.png
1592259817712.png
NOT LOCKED IN: Ankrum, Bassett, Briscoe, Bilicki, H. Burton, Eckes

Duel 2 first (because I'm an idiot and labelled them wrong). Duels will be 1/2 distance, every other race will be 1/4.

Grid:
1592291629657.png
Good for Briscoe.

And what was even better was that he got the early lead:
1592291795288.png
He was passed by Will Byron on lap 3.
The race developed into a pack of Byron, Matt diBenedetto and Tyler Ankrum.
1592291911989.png

LAP 5: Caution, after Kyle Busch ran high, collecting Bassett and also severely delaying Cole Custer.
1592291958813.png1592291992216.png
From the restart, Ankrum seized the lead. However, he was held high and Kurt Busch took the lead on lap 14.
1592292724932.png
Ankrum, though, retook the lead the next lap.
Chase Briscoe was the next to take a turn in the lead.
1592293024419.png
Going onto lap 23, Dillon Bassett held up the leaders.
1592293164197.png
That let Chastain and Byron slip by.
1592293213760.png
In fact, Briscoe got bottled in so hard that he fell out of the top 10.
With five laps to go, Kurt Busch took the lead for the third time.
1592293295779.png
At this point, the Toyotaforce was going to qualify: Ankrum (6th), Harrison Burton (10th), with Chase Briscoe (13th) and Bilicki (14th). Eckes 21st and Bassett off the lead lap.
Just as Ankrum retook the lead...
1592293490861.png
...the other two cars from the earlier incident loomed.
1592293510654.png
However, Kyle Busch pitted. This meant only Custer needed to be cleared.
1592293579536.png
Ankrum cleared him quite quickly.
1592293662475.png
As of the white flag, Bell closed into Ankrum.
1592293679135.png
He got the lead and Ankrum tumbled down the order.
Christopher Bell is your Daytona winner!
1592293886347.png
Ty Dillon second, with Eckes and Briscoe in the race and Ankrum just missing out.
1592293731721.png
The other talking point will be Kyle Busch's crash and therefore, 41st place start.
Tomorrow: Duel 2!

Duel 2 today. Friday will be the Clash (which will just be picked by me lol since I don't have a 2020) and Saturday will be the 500.

Garrett Smithley cycled up to the lead onn the second lap.
1592339005603.png

1592339248947.png
Labbe and Preece dominated the race.
1592340040247.png
Ty Majeski took the lead five to go.

At this point, it looked like Theriault would go through.
1592340152189.png
Super close with four to go.
1592340180089.png
A gaggle of cars pitted with three to go. Including unqualified cars Kennington and Smithley and leading drivers Keselowski and Truex Jr.
1592340263894.png
The lead pack then featured unqualified cars Haley and Theriault.
1592340297449.png

1592340322548.png

NEWS
* Australian James Davison will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in the road course races this year (Sonoma, Watkins Glen, Roval and for the first time ever, COTA). He'll be driving for Spire Motorsports in the first two, and while his seat is unconfirmed for the other it's thought it will either be in a Rick Ware Racing x Spire second car or for Premium Motorsports in the #00.
* Another to confirm their intentions to race this year is Truck team ThorSport. They'll be entering 'up to 10 races' this year, including the next one at Las Vegas. Drivers are thought to already be contracted to them, meaning it could be Matt Crafton, Grant Enfinger, Johnny Sauter or Tate Fogelman.
* Meanwhile, DGR-Crosley have confirmed they will run every odd numbered race this year. Natalie Decker and Tyler Ankrum will share the ride, with Decker's first run coming at Round 3.

Busch Clash:

Kurt Busch took the pole.
1592546935614.png

The early pack was... close
1592547034722.png
Bowman the Showman was the first realy clear leader.
1592547153068.png
Erik Jones took the lead on lap 11. He lost it the next lap, though.
1592547440929.png
About halfway through the race, everyone went two wide again with Keselowski taking the lead.
1592547631184.png
The race became more volatile after, with Suarez, Truex and Elliott leading just two laps later.
1592547729868.png
It was a Toyota 1-2-3 with seven to go.
1592548020180.png
Just as Kese pitted...
1592548154750.png
Blaney spun Kurt Busch into Justin Allgaier, bringing the yellows out.
1592548184214.png1592548200778.png
The leader Jones chose to pit.
1592548234831.png
That left Dan Suarez leading with three to go.
The race finished under safety car.
1592548502003.png
1592548638974.png
42, 40 and 24 ran out of fuel on the way back to the pits.
1592548706223.png
Next race is tomorrow- the 500.
I'm running a tipping competition on the Discord, which closes in about 18 hours from now. Get in quick! Link in the above post.

DAYTONA 500
Chris Bell started on pole (see post 4)
They ran three wide early on.
1592690876103.png

The caution came on lap 4 after Wallace turned Blaney into the pack. Not much damage done. Austin Cindric led to the yellow.
View attachment NR2003 2020-06-21 08-09-56.mp4

Cindric pitted under yellow, allowing Cassill to lead back to green over Jeb Burton and Alex Bowman. Burton took the lead off the restart, but was quickly passed by three Hendrick cars- Bowman, Byron and Gragson.
1592691728118.png

Suarez got a massive lead after the rest of the pack was held up by the lapped car of Tyler Reddick.
1592692551549.png
Drivers began to pit beginning lap 30; Will Byron, Bowman and Gragson were among the earliest.
Byron then came back in, with an engine failure. He was the first retirement on lap 35.
Hemric took the lead after the first stops.
A lead pack developed with thirty to go featuring Bowman, Buescher, Gragson, Cindric and Kurt Busch.
1592693747751.png
Gragson was the first of those to blink, being joined in the pits for the final time by 6th place Jones on lap 56. However, his pit stop was significantly longer than everyone else.
Eckes got the lead after all of the pitting was done.
1592694365524.png
Custer made a move for the lead but was blocked by the lapped car of Eckes. One lap later, Custer and Suarez drafter by.
1592694426230.png
With ten to go, Theriault, Jones, Briscoe and Kyle Busch were competing for the win. The second pack, including Bowman, Grala, Stenhouse, B Jones, Chastain, Hemric, Nemechek and Sieg, were catching with 6 to go.
1592694868478.png
The leaders then had to lap Almirola and Cassill. Bowman moved to second with two and a half to go. Then moved for the lead.
1592695005272.png
The #7 made life much easier for Bowman by holding up Theriault on the last lap.

Alex Bowman is your Daytona 500 winner!

Hye everyone! We now have two more features of this series!

1. A spreadsheet featuring all points. Link is https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JLKbwnKon7wH_FaFbe-SULiPZyPQZi0rVFkLVbuzPp8/edit?usp=sharing
2. A tipping competition! For this you have to be in the Discord: https://discord.gg/4J3jnYb . Every Wednesday, I put out the entry list for the next race. Your job is then to tip who you think the podium will be. There's a server prize on offer each round, in addition to pride. So please, do join the fun!

Aside from the Daytona 500 this year only the top 20 in last year's points are locked in. This is to increase chances of the small teams getting races.
All cars except the following must qualify: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 40, 42, 48, 88

Qualifying (note: #66 should be #61):
1593323840710.png
1593323857765.png

Bowman turned pole into leading the first lap.
1593323944440.png
He led the early laps with Blaney settling into second.
1593324249511.png
Just as Bell and Almirola caught the leaders, Blaney went for the lead.
1593324574917.png1593324647351.png
Almirola also slid through for second, as did Chris Bell for third.
1593324773484.png
Almirola then went for the lead.
1593324870010.png
The lead pack began to constrict then.
Except for Aric breaking.
1593324949165.png
There was a set top 12.
1593324978161.png
Elliott moved for the lead on lap 35, and got it.
1593325139122.png1593325147605.png
The race broke into a pattern. Elliot leading Almirola, Bell and Wallace Jr.
1593325636381.png
The caution finally arrived on lap 62 for Nemechek and Austin Hill. Nemechek spun after contact with Todd Gilliland and was rammed from behind by the #61.
View attachment NR2003 2020-06-28 16-40-21.mp4

Everybony pitted as soon as it was open; the pit window was just as the wreck occurred. Elliott dropped from 1st to 4th, with all of the others gaining one spot.
The order under yellow.
1593326717846.png
Austin Dillon and Grala both fell of the lead lap in the pits.
The safety car came back in with 66 laps complete. From the restart, the Hendrick cars of Wallace, Elliott and Bowman went three wide with Elliott the winner- going up to third. However, he gave Bell and Almirola just a bit of margin doing so.
1593326951369.png
He wound them back in within three laps.
1593327010378.png
Chris Bell thought about going around the outside on lap 75 but Elliott had other ideas.
1593327205842.png
He held position though and it ended up being Elliott's teammate Wallace losing out with suprisingly fast rookie Harrison Burton getting him for 4th.
1593327263373.png
So then he tried the inside.
1593327363533.png
That was better.
1593327412945.png
That triggered action for second.
1593327467230.png
Almirola held it, though. Further back, Buescher and Keselowski squeezed either side of Wallace. This gave Bell 3/4 second lead.
1593327563562.png
Keselowski wasted now time dispatching Burton for fourth, then Elliott for third.
1593327789050.png
Continued in another posr

Then in second.
1593327875547.png
Then to the lead.
1593327934406.png
He built up his lead over the next few laps.
The question was, who could get home from here? They all pitted with on lap 64 with 66 laps to go...
While the top 2 broke away, the battle for third was on. Dan Suarez took third on lap 114, with 16 to go.
1593328601492.png
Gilliland blinked with ten to go, pitting. Just outside though, Suarez had caught Bell for second.
1593328820363.png
He got it.
1593328862806.png
Ty Dillon grabbed fourth with six to go, but with 2.5 seconds to close in to take a podium.
Unfortunately, the caution came out with two laps left. It was a spin for Ryan Blaney, the second incident in two weeks, triggered by contact with Alex Bowman.
View attachment NR2003 2020-06-28 17-26-46.mp4

Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, Vinnie Miller, Will Byron and Justin Allgaier all pitted with two to go.
Brad Keselowski wins at Martinsville!
1593329472623.png
1593329527392.png
1593329516348.png

The championship is still led by Bowman over Theriault and Stenhouse Junior- the Daytona podium.

RECENT DRIVER NEWS:
* ARRIS Racing is another new outfit that will make it's Cup Series debut! They will run at both Texas races and Darlington with Mexico Series champion Ruben Garcia Jr at the wheel.
* Obaika Racing have confirmed their resurrection and will run the #97 for the first time at the Coke 600 this year. They also plan to enter Daytona Summer, Indy and Homestead (Nov). No driver news, but Parker Kligermann, David Starr and Riley Herbst are rumoured to be considered.
* Premium Motorsports will run six races this year in a crossover with Rick Ware, in the #27. With former drivers Ross Chastain and Gray Gaulding unavailable, it's thought that candidates for the ride include Brennan Poole, Quin Houff and Tyler Ankrum (who Toyota may be willing to loan).
* Finally, the Indy race will see some interesting crossovers. Fernando Alonso will join in a special #66 (for owner points purposes, 66A) Andretti Autosports car in collaboration with Hendrick Motorsports; Marco Andretti will drive the #08 for JR Motorsports; and James Hinchcliffe will take a ride in the series as well, most likely with Kurt Busch Inc. after Busch's Indy 500 start last year.

Las Vegas (Attempt 2, the first one suffered from massive death)
Sorry for the delay, when I ran this race the first 2 times I had it on the wrong speed, leading to a true wreck fest.
Qualifying was dominated by Chevy with Chastain taking pole over Bowman, Bell and Nemechek.
1593932520888.png
1593932528766.png
Everyone went three wide from the start and Logano came away with the lead. Chase Elliott took it on lap 2, though.
Toyota struggled for pace with Kyle Busch and Erik Jones at the back on lap 8. Further up the field, Austin Dillon was closing on the sizable margin the two leaders had had. He moved for second on lap 10, and then the lead on lap 12.
1593932992059.png
He didn't get it that time, but he did the next lap. By this point, Martin Truex Jr in the 28 had joined the party.
Toyota's bad day continued. While Jones had escaped the basement, Suarez was down there now. THe reason? Several unfancied teams were in the top 10 (Wood Brothers, Leavine Family, Go FAS) and even a Rick Ware car (50) was in the top 20.
Truex took the lead on lap 21.
1593933375243.png
Three laps later, he was repassed.

It was beginning to look like it'd be between the 3 and 28 for the race, with the 21 and 60 holding up any other contenders now for three seconds worth of pace. The lead flipped back to Truex the next lap, then between the two until, on lap 28, a mistake from the then-leader Truex didn't just let Dillon back through, it also let Elliott by. Three laps later, though, he was right back onto him and the battle continued. Meanwhile at the back, a mistake from Suarez saw him lose the draft- the 19 was now counting on a caution. A potentially significant move was made for 3rd on lap 41, with diBenedetto in the 95 taking it off Chase Elliott. diBenedetto took second on lap 53, just as Truex, A. Dillon and Logano pitted. Ty Dillon and Keselowski had tried the undercut while diBenedetto and Elliott stayed out.
After pitting, Logano dropped to ninth, Austin Dillon dropped 2.5 seconds off the leaders but diBenedetto had a good stop and was right on Truex, making his move two laps after his stop on lap 57. And he got it.

Allgaier dropped to 40th in the pit lane, while Kyle Busch jumped to 27th. DIllon struggled to make inroads on the leaders, being wound in by Elliott, Custer and Reddick. He was passed by Elliott on lap 67. By this point, six cars had lost the draft. Allgaier and Gragson suffered slow pitstops, but who else you might ask?

Jeb, Timmy and the two RWR cars!
With thirty to go, the leaders' pace began to subtly drop. Coincidentally, Cole Custer began to show speed at this point as well. Custer took fourth on lap 79 from Dillon, then began to close into Elliott. He got third on lap 83, but was instantly repassed. The leaders hit traffic in the shape of the 66 on lap 87.
Elliott caught Truex with 17 to go, and almost instantly passed.

However, he then ran high, allowing the 0 to come back at him. Custer took over second, and Dillon fourth.

This all gave diBenedetto 1.4 seconds, as well as allowing Nemechek to close into the battle for second. Matt then caught both Smithley and Gragson at an inopportune time, but squeaked by without losing too much margin. Truex was, by this time, being trampled- he dropped to sixth by the end of lap 95. With ten to go, Custer was within 0.9 seconds of diBenedetto, but had the aformentioned lapped traffic inbetween the two of them. AS Custer passed Smithley, Nemechek took third.

Nemechek moved for second on lap 100, but didn't get the job done. With five to go, the gap between diBenedetto and Custer was closing by 0.1 per lap, and down to 0.343. The battle was on. Nemechek tried for second again on lap 103 and went two wide for almost an entire lap before getting the job done, buying diBenedetto some time. With three laps to go, diBenedetto had 0.2 seconds. With two to go, well;

Into turn 1, Nemechek made his move.

Matt closed it down to the inside of Turn 2.

DI BENEDETTO TAKES A BRILLIANT WIN!

Note that Daniel Suarez ran out of gas late and dropped a lap after having to pit.
