The National Stock-Car Association is an offline league I created that can trace it's origins back to my old NAVRAR carsets from the early 2010s. I've been part of the NR community since August of 2010, well over 11 years, and I'm now reaching a decade's worth of carsets for a fictional series I run......

....... Holy shit time flies.......

.... For the last two years here on Stunod, I've made showrooms for the previous two seasons of competition, though usually those threads came out within the same year their respective seasons took place. Here, since I'm going to try and take my time with the carset (as well as provide a few bonus additions I hope to get thrown into the mix), I'm going to start this early. For those of you who know nothing about my league, or need a refresher:

The National Stock-Car Association is the culmination of over 70 years of American motorsports ranging back all the way to the early post-war days in the late 1940's. Initially, it was the National Racer's Club in the north, the American Stock-Car Association in the south, and the West, the Automobile Racing Group of America. On the Eastern seaboard, it was a massive rivalry between the NRC and ASCA, while ARGA had been dominating the West uncontested. However, in the 1970s, the United States faced a massive oil crisis, seeing a major toll taken on the race teams of all three organizations. This led to the NRC and ASCA merging together, creating the NSCA in 1975. Meanwhile, ARGA barely scraped by and restructured itself into the American Stock-Car Racing Club, or ASCRC for short, and became a starting point for many of today's top stock-car drivers.

Entering it's 47th season since it's inception in 1975 and inaugural season in 1976, the NSCA's top level of competition - the NSCA Youtube Cup Series - is coming off of a fantastic season in 2021, with officials, teams, drivers, and fans all hoping that the quality of the racing continues to be as good, if not better than it has been. A tweaked aero package sees revamped nose and tv panel shapes for each of the 5 manufacturers. GM reacquired Pontiac after the return of the American manufacturer came around 5 years ago, and has since taken the direction of their stock-car program to more closely match that of Chevrolet's, leading to both manufacturer's cars - The Camaro ZL1-1LE and Trans Am Firebird - to look nearly identical. Dodge has switched away from the long-dead Dart and fallen in line with it's American rivals, bringing the Challenger to, well, challenge the Mustang and Camaro. Ford and Toyota have made minimal changes, but not wholesale modifications like Chevy, Pontiac, or Dodge.

As for drivers, Steven Merzlak comes off of his 2nd championship, being the first driver in an exact decade to win back-to-back championships since Steven Miller in 2010-11. Runner-Up Sean English looked like the championship favorite, keeping his rivals at arms length for most of the back-half of the season, however his luck ran out a few races too early, and Merzlak was able to take the lead of the points with 2 races to go. Other drivers who looked strong all season were 2014 Cup Champion Hunter Keero, 2021 Rookie of the Year Mikey Willard, 3-time Cup Champion Cody Llamas, and 2021 Daytona 500 winner Jacob Craigo. In regards to teams, Wolfpack Racing looks to be on the rise after a heavy fall over the past few years prior, while the team market has since shrunk down. Jackie Tang Racing was bought out by Wolfpack... Queen City Racing and Chase Marks Motorsports was bought out by Red Dragon Motorsports, which then rebranded to using the Queen City name.... Red Bull Racing has stepped away from their traditional 2 similarly-schemed cars where one is blue and the other silver, and instead have one as a combination of the blue and silver while the other now has Alpha Tauri logos on it..... Ravenhurst Racing sold it's assets to English Motorsports and exited stock-car racing... Realistically speaking, Silly Season was more about teams than it was about drivers, as there weren't many driver moves outside of drivers retiring or leaving and fresh faces being brought in in their places.....

... That took way too long to type out..... Here's the list of credits for the entire carset so that I don't have to copy/paste this in every individual post:
Templates and Template Pieces: Cosmin, BER, Lefty, and Stunod
Logos: BER, Masgrafx, SRD, Google, ModSquad, SDG, SHD, TN Designs, and Stunod
Numbers and Number Sets: BER, Masgrafx, SRD, NNRacing, and Stunod
Car Bases: Myself, Paint-By-RAH, Stunod, and Steven Merzlak
Renders: Courteous of TheModSquad

#23 | Elana Keshiel
Team: Red Bull Racing
Rookie Season: 2018
Starts: 116
Wins: 0
Top 5s: 5
Top 10s: 17

Last year, it was mentioned how Elana isn't quite a championship contender as of yet in her career. Sadly that trend continued as Red Bull was mainly a mid-pack team overall over the course of the 2021 season. Still, she hopes that the team can rally around themselves and pull together a strong showing for 2022. Elana will continue to have the standard Red Bull livery for her #23 Pontiac.

#21 | Jennsen Nomina
Team: Red Bull Racing
Rookie Season: 2021
Starts: 19
Wins: 0
Top 5s: 0
Top 10s: 1

In a shocking announcement only 11 races of the season, Red Bull Racing dropped Calvin Richards after a string of poor performances in the #44 car to start the season, even by the standards of where the team usually ran. Many called the move harsh, unfair, and cited that the issues involved the car, not the driver. Some even held on to the conspiracy theory that Calvin was let go after several negative comments about how the team was doing, and the quality of the equipment on track, something Elana had noticeably been tight-lipped about in comparison. His replacement was Irishman Jennsen Nomina, a relatively unknown driver until this whole fiasco, whom had some decent showings in the lower divisions. To RBR's credit, Jennsen would wind up doing better on average when it came to results, even nabbing a top 10 late in the season. Unfortunately, Calvin was able to accomplish better things in arguably worse equipment mid-season.... More on that when we get to Calvin though..... As for Jennsen's 2022 season, the car has been renumbered to #21, and Red Bull have ditched the traditional Blue Car/Silver Car for the young Irishman to instead run with Alpha Tauri backing. With over half a season's worth of races under his belt already, only time will tell if this turns out to be a good decision on Red Bull's part, or if Nomina will turn out to be the next Alex Albon......

Au5OjEW.png

Additional credit here: Helmets are from the 2020 F1 game (Ironically, I used Albon's helmet for Elana even though Jennsen would fit the situation better) and a helmet mod for F1 2020 found on RaceDepartment created by blondin73 for Jennsen's helmet..... These are the only helmets that will feature any sort of logos on them as from here on out all helmet designs are by me... Also the Alpha Tauri logos and associate sponsorship are from use of the F1 2020 files as well.

#51 | Ricki Fawxson
Team: Craigo Autosport
Rookie Season: 2020
Starts: 55
Wins: 4
Top 5s: 8
Top 10s: 13

Ricki Fawxson impressed in her debut season in 2020, taking the shitbox that was a car from Factory Dodge Autosport and winning in that car. That raised a few eyebrows in the garage area, and caught the eye of owner/driver Jacob Craigo. Known for having a decent reputation for finding and nurturing talent, Craigo was able to get Fawxson to race for Craigo Autosport in 2021. She impressed again, earning 3 more wins and having nearly as many top 5s as she did top 10s. While she was the most consistent between herself and her teammates, Craigo and Travis Hoefflin, she happened to be the most consistent at finishing in the upper mid-pack, as she had the worst average finish and worst average start compared to her teammates. Despite this, Ricki looks to fight for more top 10 finishes in her 3rd season, and hopes that the team as a whole can finally find a driver's championship victory come November! After some inter-team movement of sponsorship, Ricki will see NAPA Auto Parts join Haas in sponsorship of her #51 Dodge. Haas also expands their branding to incorporate their HaasTooling website as part of their sponsorship arrangement.

#9 | Jesse Dalton
Team: JD Racing
Rookie Season: 2018
Starts: 116
Wins: 2
Top 5s: 7
Top 10s: 26

Despite it not being a good year for Jesse Dalton in 2021, an 18th place points finish is not the end of the world. In last year's set, I mentioned how Toyota was bringing more support to their teams, and while it paid off for a number of drivers, JD Racing was still not at the level they once were, nor were they where they wanted to be. Going into 2022, the team looks to climb further up the pecking order, and Jesse himself aims for a top 10 points finish, hoping to impress his new sponsors who jump aboard for the coming season. Shasta Colas becomes Dalton's new primary while premium burger chain Wayback Burgers fills the secondary spot. Jiffy Lube exits the sport while Cooper Standard down scales to an associate sponsor.

#12 | Ian Wallace
Team: Team Penske
2022 Rookie of the Year Contender

Hailing from Australia, Ian Wallace raced in V8 Supercars for a couple years racing for smaller teams and out performing the equipment he was in. This caught the eyes of Team Penske, who signed Ian heading into the 2015 season. After completely annihilating the competition, Ian's expressed interest in racing in the US landed him a seat on Penske's Indycar team. Despite 2 years spent in the series, Ian couldn't get comfortable with the cars, and sought after a chance in stock-car racing instead. Penske obliged, allowing Ian to make a few part-time starts in the National Series while completing his 3rd year in Indycar in 2018. From 2019 onwards, Ian made the full dive into stock-cars, racing in the National Series for Team Penske, nabbing a handful of wins and the 2021 National Series championship. These accolades earned him a chance at a full-time Cup Series seat, and with Trey Coleman's departure from the #12 car, this opened the door for Wallace to fill it in. Ian brings with him Verizon and an increased presence from Shell. However, the Shell-Pennzoil sponsorship was swapped with Discount Tire, with Shell-Pennzoil moving to Wallace's more experienced teammate Ryan Vaughan.

After the weekend off for the NASCAR Championship finale..... We resume!

#8 | Cam Barnes
Team: Bledsoe Brothers Racing
Rookie Season: 2019
Starts: 80
Wins: 1
Top 5s: 3
Top 10s: 7

2021 Was not a good year for Cam Barnes. The young driver from Charlotte only scored one top 10 during the entire season and finished 32nd in points. On top of that, the team he was racing for was bought out by another team, and Barnes' contract wasn't included. Without a ride for 2022, Barnes went around trying to get one, and was able to land himself at Bledsoe Brothers Racing, a team founded by Paul and Alan Bledsoe. While the team has slipped back little by little over the past few years, the addition of Cam looks to hopefully their standing in the team championship, and Cam hopes that he can have a better year for 2022. Cam brings not just his #8, but also Caterpillar and Thriv5 as sponsors, although the National Guard does drop from the sport.

#92 | Hunter Keero
Team: Pathfinder Racing
Rookie Season: 2008
Starts: 466
Wins: 24 | 2020 Daytona 500 Champion, 2014 NSCA Cup Champion
Top 5s: 76
Top 10s: 104

As the 2021 Cup season progressed, three drivers stood out as championship contenders..... The primary protagonists were Sean English and Steven Merzlak, but the driver that was most capable of striking and taking it all for themselves (until the last few races) was Hunter Keero. The first of three drivers to earn 4 wins in the season, Hunter's own consistency was pretty much matched by English and Merzlak, having 2 more top 5s but 1 less top 10 than his championship rivals. Behind the scenes over the off-season, Pathfinder Racing finds itself entering a new era of sorts, having introduced a new logo ahead of the coming season. On the sponsorship front, nothing really changes (with exception to associate sponsorship), as Pepsi and Gearwrench remain aboard the #92 Ford Mustang.

#83 | Calvin Richards
Team: Wolfpack Racing
Rookie Season: 2020
Starts: 55
Wins: 1
Top 5s: 4
Top 10s: 7

From the lowest of lows, to the highest of highs, Calvin Richards saw it all last year. Originally racing in the Red Bull Racing #44, Calvin wasn't able to get anywhere near having similar results to his teammate, and was fired after only 11 races in the season. After finding sponsorship, Calvin moved over to RTD Motorsports, and while most of his time in the #0 was only marginally better at best, he was able to score his first career win at Orlando. Following the conclusion of the 2021 season, Richards was approached by Wolfpack Racing, whom had themselves seen better performances on track on average, and even got a win at New jersey thanks to Darien Arnsdorff. After a bit of discussion between Richards and Wolfpack, it was announced that the former F3 champion would move to the #83 in 2022, with Menards following the British driver. And of course, as with all Menards' sponsorship deals, several partnering companies were included in B2B sponsorship.....

#13 | Travis Hoefflin
Team: Craigo Autosport
Rookie Season: 2019
Starts: 80
Wins: 7
Top 5s: 27
Top 10s: 41

One of the few drivers to have a qualifying average in the single digits in 2021, Travis Hoefflin found himself at the tail end of what could've been a legitimate fight for the championship had he been able to score a few more wins. Despite his lone win at Las Vegas, Travis was able to score a 5th place points finish, and was fairly consistent throughout the year. Monster Energy remains aboard the #13 Dodge, as Exide moves over to the team owner/driver Jacob Craigo.

#25 | John Mullen
Team: Hendrick Motorsports
Rookie Season: 2002 (Debuted 2001)
Starts: 656
Wins: 18 | 2016 NSCA Cup Champion, 2011 Daytona 500 Winner
Top 5s: 81
Top 10s: 119

The oldest driver on the grid, John Mullen can look back on a 20+ year long career and his accomplishments over the seasons..... But he's far from finished! Despite the lower win count compared to some of his on-track compatriots, the former Cup champion enters 2022 as Mr. Saturday - with an average starting spot of 4.87 in 2021! John looks to continue that streak, and nab a few more wins as well, and significantly improve his average finish, a slumping 15.20.... Nationwide Insurance leaves the #25 team, but Kelly Blue Book remains. Axalta jumps aboard the #25 in a deal that will see them on both Mullen's #25 and his teammate Mikey Willard's #88.

#5 | Samuel Henson Jr.
Team: Hendrick Motorsports
2022 Rookie of the Year Contender

Son of former Indycar driver Samuel Henson, Sam Jr. enters the NSCA as the first driver born in the 21st century to make the step up to the Cup Series. While he has plenty of experience in lower divisions, Sam Jr. primarily got his racing chops in the sim racing community, and often would participate in big local short-track races and the following day be seen online battling against drivers from around the world. Over the past few years though, his focus has shifted primarily to real-life racing. He would eventually wind up in Hendrick Motorsports' development pipeline, driving for 2nd Chance Motorsports in the National Series. Coincidentally, 2nd Chance is owned by Eric Reinhardt Jr., whom also enjoyed sim racing since it's early beginnings in the 90s. After great performances in the 2020 and 2021 National Series seasons, Sam Jr. got the call up to join Hendrick Motorsports for the 2022 Cup season. UniFirst jumps over from the #88 to be Henson's primary sponsor. Microsoft expands it's sponsorship with Hendrick, promoting it's Xbox brand as Sam's secondary sponsor, bringing the whole sim racing thing full circle....

#22 | William Sparks
Team: Team Penske
Rookie Season: 2021
Starts: 30
Wins: 0
Top 5s: 5
Top 10s: 15

Going into 2021, fans were skeptical of Team Penske's expansion to a 3 car team, with the addition of William Sparks in the new #22 car. Having achieved his dream of racing for the legendary organization, Sparks was going to make the most of it as best he could.... And make it he did. A well rounded rookie season with a decent number of top 10 finishes, a top 10 points finish, and runner-up in the ROTY standings. With Ryan Vaughan as a teammate and mentor, William looks to improve on an already decent start to his career. Autotrader continues their sponsorship, with Wurth and Pennzoil stepping up to sponsor the Nevada native.

Team: Wolfpack Racing
Rookie Season: 2010 (Debuted 2009)
Starts: 368
Wins: 1
Top 5s: 25
Top 10s: 36

2021 was a rough season for Jackie Tang. 40th in points, finishing behind a guy who started 11 less races than him, no top 10 finishes, dismal average start and finish stats, etc. Some were wondering if Tang would even continue racing. Alas, he will, albeit under a new team. During the off season, Tang sold his race team to Wolfpack Racing, effectively merging the two teams, and allowing Tang to remain in the #81. Bringing in his sponsors from the previous season, Tang hopes that his luck with change in 2022.

#29 | Amie Walsh
Team: Pathfinder Racing
2022 Rookie of the Year Contender

After Keloph O'Sherwood announced his departure from the Cup Series for a return to Formula 1 for 2022, that left an opening at Pathfinder Racing. To replace the outgoing Irishman, the team has brought in Amie Walsh into the #29 Ford. A grassroots racer, she made a name for herself on the local bullrings across the country, and as a result was able to move up the ranks. Now, she will make her Cup Series debut, with backing from Target. Cook Out, Nurtec, and RoofClaim all also sign on to provide additional sponsorship for the season.

#62 | Jacob Craigo
Team: Craigo Autosport
Rookie Season: 2006
Starts: 538
Wins: 20 | 2021 Daytona 500 Champion
Top 5s: 69
Top 10s: 109

Jacob Craigo bookended the season with wins - including the season-opening Daytona 500 - and had a fantastic start to the 2021 campaign. However, an average run through the Summer portion of the season saw Craigo slip down the order a bit before regaining some ground in the later third of the year. Jacob was also one of only 3 drivers to score 4 wins in 2021, the other two being John Mullen and Hunter Keero. On the team management of things, Craigo Autosport had the team's best season to date with 8 wins shared amongst it's three drivers. Jacob, his team, and the whole organization look to continue their success going into 2022. McDonald's and Coca-Cola remain onboard the #62 while Exide Batteries jumps over to fill the gap that NAPA left behind.

#33 | Thadore Keen
Team: McLaren Racing
Rookie Season: 2021
Starts: 30
Wins: 0
Top 5s: 2
Top 10s: 7

Thadore Keen had a decent mid-field rookie season in 2021, and was able to notch a few top 10s and even a couple top 5s to his credit. Going into his sophomore season, he looks to improve on what he's learned last year, likewise McLaren looks to expand in the near future, having a decent start to it's stock-car operation. Speaking of expanding, Arrow jumps over to be primary sponsor for Keen in 2022, with Gulf taking a reduced number of races on the hood of the #33 Chevy. Huski Chocolate also remain aboard as a secondary sponsor.

2021 wasn't a "good" year for Chase Marks, but it was still better than 2020. 32nd in points, a few top 10s, and one pick up by a team later, and Marks now finds himself on a team with the resources to not be a backmarker. In addition, Marks was able to pick up some sponsorship over the off season from Stanley Black & Decker, who will provide sponsorship in the form of DeWalt, Irwin, Craftsman, and Stanley.

**YOU'VE UNLOCKED A NEW THUNDER PLATE**

#29 | Randy Carpenter
Scheme: 2009 Rockstar Energy Drink Ford | Team PepsiCo Racing
Active Seasons: 1987-2012 (Debuted in 1985)
Starts: 848
Wins: 55 | 7-Time Champion, 3-Time Daytona 500 Champion

Randy Carpenter is one of the most well known and respected drivers to have been part of the Cup Series garage, but his career nearly ended before it could begin, as a wreck at Rockingham Speedway in 1985 nearly took his life. Randy bounced back, however, and was able to make a few more starts before landing a full-time ride in 1987 where he ran for and won Rookie of the Year honors. A few years later, he would go on to win his first championship in 1991, then go back-to-back in 1992. Eric Reinhardt would deny him a 3-peat in '93, but Carpenter topped the pile again in '94, solidifying himself as one of the legends of the sport. An injury as a result of a crash in late 1996 would see him have to sit out until 1997, but from 1999 through to 2001, Carpenter would pull off the second ever 3-peat championship run, previously done by Homer Parsley from 1979 through 1981, just 20 years prior. After his 6th championship, his performance on track started to slip, and by 2005 he was only managing mid-pack finishes with the occasional top 10 and rarer top 5. Fans were wondering if he was going to hang the helmet up, as it looked like he was never going to beat Parsley's 6 championships, only match it. However, in 2007, Team PepsiCo Racing brought Carpenter in, and it began a career resurgence for the now older driver. Consistent top 10s, with a few more wins clicked off left and right, but never quite in the top 5 in points by season's end. Content with is career, Carpenter announced his final season would be in 2012 towards the end of the 2011 season. While the season didn't start off great, being down in 30th in points after 7 races, Carpenter was able to claw his way back up, and went out on top, earning his 7th and final championship.

Team: Wolfpack Racing
Rookie Season: 2020
Starts: 54
Wins: 0
Top 5s: 2
Top 10s: 6

Fuli Hill had earned her way to driving the flagship #82 for Wolfpack Racing for 2021 after a decent outing in her rookie season, and 2021 went about par for the course, as the team overall saw improvement, including a win at New Jersey. No sponsorship changes for the #82 Toyota for 2022, as M&M's and Interstate Batteries remain aboard, albeit both with new schemes for the upcoming year.
