I'm about 40 miles north of Lafayette. I grew up about 12 miles from Richmond. We were at Rushville or Anderson pretty much every weekend growing up. Then we'd hit the likes of Winchester, Salem...and everywhere else

Oh for sure. Just a strong showing would have been great. Been a rough couple of years for that guy, I'd love to see tk or seist? Put a car in the victory circle for him.

LOL! You ain't kidding. Met Donnie Allison the same day. I think it was Foyt's 50th? anniversary at IMS so there were all sorts of people creeping around the garage. Billy boat, Kenny brack I think I seen.

I spent most of the month of May throughout the 80's at the Brick Yard. I had so many great encounters with the drivers of that era I could talk for hours I was lucky to have an Uncle who was a Higher up USAC officials and nothing at IMS. was off limits while hanging out with him.

I'm just thrilled at a good start for Graham. He came on strong last year, but the first couple of races did him in.

I saw Tony George at the track one time...not too long after the split. I walked up to him and said "thanks for ruining open wheel racing"

I was a youngun back then...

I ran into him probably 3-4 times over a few year window. I 100% blame him for the huge setback in Indy/Cart/Champ series racing...and look at where we are now? Expensive open wheel racing back at road courses (not that I mind it).

    I loathe that man.

I like graham, I like it when he runs good. I Just grew up in a foyt household, so anything other then foyt wasn't acceptable lol so naturally with his dad being who he was... rahal wasn't exactly a favorite name.

As for the split, I was awful young. 95-96 range? Wasn't it?

If that's the case.. I was 6. Lol just looking for the race cars was my main concerne at that age. :p but from what I know, yeah he was a jackwagon. Never crossed paths with him really, but unsers , Allison, foyt.. met Dan wheldon the year before he passed. Had a good 10 minute conversation with him... he was awesome. His pr lady came up and said "dan, we gotta go! He said "They can wait, these people are here to see me." Naturally, she won him over after a few but just the fact he stayed a few moments longer to sign a few hats and such was huge to me. I'll never, ever forget that. Helio was a cool dude to talk with, Scott Dixon was great, and believe it or not chip gannassi was awesome. Told him I was a huge fan of scott, and he got Scott to sign my hat and say hi there in the garage. I'll never forget a young Marco either, snubbing me, but stopping for a few cute girls. Jerk lol

I was a teen. Our family just loved racing. It was rough for a while because after Bobby Retired and before Graham came on the scene, I was a huge Greg Moore fan. I was so bummed when he was killed.

That kid has some talent for sure. Seen a lot of guys like that over the years that never had the chance to reach potential.
