In a long and arduous process starting on January 22nd, 2021, members of the r/WallStreetBets subreddit decided to short squeeze GameStop stocks, resulting in a lot of billionaires losing a good amount of money in their hedge funds. People that had their entire careers centered around staring at numbers on a computer screen and making impulse purchases suddenly realized that normal people could do the exact same thing they were doing and they became furious.
As of the time of posting, some time in the afternoon of January 27th, 2021, WSB is still short squeezing stocks with maximum hilarity ensuing.
