For the fourth time in a week, I was in the middle of a race before the game out of nowhere decides to crash and stop working. The error message displayed is: "NASCAR Racing: 2003 Season has stopped working. A problem caused the problem to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

It happened twice at Michigan on Sunday (Gen6Br15) while I was running in the top five, and happened twice at Nashville (NCTS 09 and BGN mod) while I was leading the race with just a few laps to go. I've turned off the wi-fi while I was racing, deleted a lot of the replays that I had saved, and taken out some of the bigger car files, and no luck. The game just decides to crash for no good reason whatsoever.

I'm very, very frustrated at this point. I know for a fact that it's not the mods I've been running, nor is it the tracks, because I have not run into this problem in the past. I want to solve this problem ASAP so I can get back to running full races.

A couple things come to mind.

1. try changing compatibility mode to Vista or WinXP
2. disable DEP (or Allow nr2003.exe)

3. Make sure nr2003.exe is running as administrator

If this doesn't fix the issue, What OS are you running? What have you done to attempt repair?

1. How do I change compatibility mode?

Is it just NR2003.exe? I also have a NR2003c.exe. That must be the CD version.

I just set it to run as administrator.

Just in case none of that works, I'm running Windows 10, and I have deleted several of my previous replays that have taken up space.

Thanks for your help. I'll try one of the races later tonight, and if it crashes again before the end, I'll message you.

Nothing worked out at all.

Tried changing compatibility to Windows XP, crashed after a pit stop with 56 laps to go.

Tried turning DEP off, crashed as soon as I pressed drive. Same thing happened when I ran it as an administrator.

By the way, here are my specs. Forgot to add that in the middle of my rant.

OS: Windows 10

Processor: Intel (R) Pentium (R) CPU B950 @ 2.10 GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.1 GHz

Memory: 4096 MB RAM

GPU Name: Intel R(HD) Graphics

I run NR2003 on Windows XP Sp3 with a Nvidia GeForce graphics card, and for some reason, all of a sudden, it crashes at random points. Sometimes when clicking drive, sometimes in the middle of a session. It ran fine for all this time till now. I'm gonna try reinstalling it later today

I have mine as comparable with Win7 since that's what the no-cd patch was originally created for, also make sure you do the all users comparability too. Run as adim for all as well. I have no issues, I run hour long practice and happy hour then race.

Are you having any issues with any other games you might be playing? There's always a chance it's not necessarily the game, also. Something else could be causing the crash. Be it hardware or even other software interference. I bring this up because I once had a similar issue, it was a while ago now, that involved me just having to do a fresh install of the OS. Crash was gone after that. In other instances in the past a faulty video card has also caused similar crashes.

I had this, then it stopped happening. Don't know.

With me, it's when I use the 2018 MENCS mod and sometimes the 2017. Almost every track (even the ones in the game) that I go to with this mod, whenever I go to a practice session, a few seconds into it, the game crashes! I've tried the DX9 update (which I can't install and other things (adjusting graphics, etc.) and nothing works. Also, some of the new 2017 and 2018 tracks cause the game to crash on my Windows 10 device. The other mods (original Cup mod, COT, etc.) seem to work fine. Help would be HIGHLY appreciated!

Will it work on this Windows 10 laptop? I ask this because I already have NR2003 fully installed on the computer and I don't have a physical copy of the game. Also, I never drive on the game. I just watch the AI cars race. The problem is just when I load the track with the 2018 MENCS mod.

If everything martinrace tells you doesn't work and it should, but if it doesn't then it could be a graphics issue. Go to your graphics page and the first thing you should do is click off solar effects, this is the biggest hof of frame rates which slows down your sim and may cause it to crash, then click off shadows and reflections on buildings, another big graphics hog and something you really don't need. I've said this in another thread, all the new 201/8 tracks and mods have huge poly counts, more than what the sim originally had been designed for, running the new mods and tracks with everything on graphicly will cause your PC to crash unless you have one of the $10,000 top of the line PC's.

You do know how to turn on the frame rate indicator?

Maybe give us your pc specs.

Yep! That's the key I use to see framerate. When I try NR2003 again this weekend, I'll try tweaking graphics in the menu (i.e unchecking certain aspects such as solar effects and shadows). I might have to contact Splash 'n Go if nothing works.
