Glad to see these pictures fall into the right hands, I had been holding onto them myself for a little while. I am currently in a project to restore the images of the race back to their original colors, and if you're interested in those, I can send them your way.

Sure, that'd be great! Can you pm them to me?

Great! I'll put the release of the West Coast set on hold 'till I check out your color-corrected pictures. I'm always trying to make these things as accurate as possible.

Thanks HB! It's really difficult to find pictures of these older cars, but luckily there were three very nice color pictures of the '56 Bay Meadows starting grid. In my searching for details on each individual car, I found a pretty good black and white one too. I also stumbled upon a scan of a couple of pages from a Gardena Stadium race program featuring some of the West Coast drivers in the set. All in all, I was pretty lucky and didn't have to fill in too many blanks.

FaceBook pages have anything to offer?

I have to say I've struggled with good color stuff from the late '60s, I can only imagine how tough it is to find color from ten or more years earlier...

I can't say for sure, I've never actually signed up for Facebook and a lot of those pages require a login to see their content. The colors are guess work sometimes, but I do my best. The videos on YouTube credited to Julian Buesink of various races from the 50's have been a great resource as they're pretty much all in color. They're pretty blurry sometimes, but if there's a b&w photo of a car in one of the videos to be found, the details can be pieced together that way. I try to be as diligent as I can with this sort of thing, but sometimes things like car/number color, sponsorships and contingency placement require educated guesses.

Fantastic stuff, bud. One of these days I'll get some more stuff painted for GN55. Just got my hands tied with other projects

Thanks Colton! When I first saw the Bay Meadows pics I just said to myself "these have to be done". Now, they almost are. I wish we had the track to go along with the cars. I've only stuck my toe in the water as far as track making goes, but I may have to try and dive into that pool soon.
