I am not too sure on the Collision Box as I have not done any 3d modeling for NR. I heard that one is not adjustable. In the physics department you can change Wheel Base. And other 2 values look like borders of how far center of gravity can travel. (Kinda like Width and Length but not really.) None of that affects the Collision Box I think. Only the "Wheel Feel." The wheel base , and the wheel showing skid marks further when increased is the only relationship I found between physics and what you get to SEE in game. Also the Width of the skid mark can be adjusted . So if a model had skinny tires back in the day, we can have skinny 3d modeled tires leave skinny skid marks on the pavement. I apologize if I confused you, you were probably asking about Collision Box because people has been looking to find where it is in the NR code?

I was just curious. I'm fairly knowledable in the physics department. When I first started modeling years ago, one of my mates who gave me a helping in hand with learning to mod (modeling) he studied and worked with physics in real life. Anyhow, I was just curious.

Thanks JJ78, this is interesting. I do only the modeling, but not the physics. Others will most likely care for that. I trashed the first model to make a second one. That one has excactly 112 inches wheel base. `52`
Check the newer thread in the WIP section.
And if any Mod is reading this, please close this thread, one of this kind is enough. Thanks!
Let me ask you , as a 3d modeler , does it give you the options to change wheel base of the model? Move Front and Rear wheels closer or further from each other ? I know that wheel and tire is a separate 3d model, do you have options to move it around? Or is it locked to 98 , 105, 110, 112 inches depending on original physics used?

Yes in any 3d software, I can make the dimensions for a wheel base, height, width, length of a model. For nr2003 everything is modeled using the metric system not in inches. For let's say Heat everything is based on inches. With nr2003, you have to make sure that the model fits inside the collision box. :) From what I know when folks make nascar mod's they base everything off of the original nr2003 cup models. I wish more folks would expand and push the limits of the game even farther. It is possible, but I don't think there are many modelers left in nr2003, who are into what I like to call, (pushing the limits of sims to see exactly how far you can go with the limitations of a game) :) Last guy I knew who pushed this game beyond it's limits was Ian-S, and he did that with modeling tracks, and creating tracks to a whole new dimension. :)

And in regards to collision model? Do you know if people were able to find it or adjust in NR2003? Truly there is no point to make noticeably bigger or smaller cars if the "collision box" remains a 2003 CUP car size. In terms of tires however it is a different story. You can edit tires and wheel base in the physics and that will show on the track with skidmark locations and width.

WOW WOW WOW I take everything back!!! Editing the Wheelbase. Making the car longer. STRETCHES THE HIT BOX!!! People been asking me if there is a hit box anywhere in the code. But I don't look into the EXE code to edit physics. Damn me I should've done more testing earlier before opening my mouth.

Unless it makes us look like a Bat-Mobile and not the actual "collision box" gets changed. Each tire might have its own collision box and that is what get's moved.

Forget about skid marks. Focus more on the actual look of the models ingame. Test it out on different types of mods. From Cup, modifieds, even grab a RC mod, and give it a test run. :) If you need anything just shoot me a message. :) I enjoy tinkering with all kinds of stuff. But most of the time, I don't post about stuff like this on open forums. LOL Have fun digging deeper bud. :)

Concerning the model, I'm glad I'm working with the right wheel base. But it's not clear to me, what tire dimensions are possible to use for the game. What is possible, what is suitable? Do we have to use the same tires as the GN55? In worst case I have to expand the fenders to get the tires in there!

Can't you edit the tires as well as the 3D model? The skid marks on the asphalt will be as wide as CTS tires , or GNS or whatever 4 original physics you are using. So if your tires are too skinny and the physics are stock. It is not going to match. Here is a sample of oversized skidmarks vs stock tires. But if you are thinking into the future , with modified physics EXE any tire size will work. If possible I would do 2 versions . 1 with stock CTS or whatever tires. and 1 with historically realistic thinner tires.

I'd bet for cts physics, but I'm too less into this. I can change of course everything on the model, but the question is what the game allows. however, your thoughts on this are interesting, it should be as close as possible to the reality. Would you know the certain dimensions of tires/wheels in 1949? Or smth that comes close... I'd like to model that anyway the correct way...

If you would like me to do the research on the dimensions and all that stuff I will gladly do it. As if I am to dial some physics changes to tires or chassis I would need to know what they are anyway. Let me see if I can find something equivalent to GM Heritage Center for Fords.

That's very nice JJ78, thanks a lot. And yes, surely much appreciated.
I could indeed imagine to model this Chevy next, it's 1949, so I guess you got me... ;) the drawings are looking pretty decent and lots of info. Looks already good!
ps: please change to the newer thread in WIP for next post. Better to have it all together in one thread.

From what Ive seen it all come down to absence of a working PSG script. Someone has to give you a working PSG script from a working mod. Is that the case? Ive seen guys try to make_a_3do and it always came down to PSG script errors. :(
